One of their process servers was deceptive and abusive when he arrived. Hiding in the dark 2' away from my front door, wearing dark clothes, glasses and a hat and even after saying I would not deny service, I just wanted him to step off my porch because he frightened me, continued to harass and pound on my doors and windows. Trying to get in the door. I simply asked he step off the porch since it was dark and he was lying in wait for me before 7 a.m. He refused and said even the police could not stop him.
I think it is important to say I was expecting these papers and at no time hid from him. He happened to come while I was at work which I later found out when I asked him when else he had tried. Since a lot of process services get paid by attempts, my guess is, he came at 2:30 p.m. knowing I would be at work and unavailable. Since I have also process served, I found his integrity and escalation when asked to step down off the porch, very unprofessional. I simply did not feel safe in the dark and wanted to not be trapped in front of my door where someone could drag me in my house. The way he escalated made me believe, he may not be a process server.
I would be concerned about proper service. Once he stepped off the porch and I went outside to receive my papers, he threw them, overhand at me. Very unprofessional. Not in anyway I would expect a process server to act as I have done the job myself. I Cannot speak for the business itself or others in the company but would be very concerned about lack of protocol and training.
You have a right to deny service. I was not denying service. Simply setting safety boundaries which he felt he did not need to adhere to and felt even the police could not hold him to. My concern would be proper service since he never asked my name, if I was in the military nor did he have a picture of me and then threw the papers at me, hitting me even though I exited with my arm out to receive.
      Very unprofessional.
