The business was hired to repair multiple issues with our bathroom. The repairs are not up to any acceptable standard of quality. There is paint where it shouldn't be and no paint where there should be. All the new drywall is lumpy with mud and corners are sunken and uneven with visible tape. The ceiling is two different colors as is the new wall above the tub. The door still sticks. The paint comes off the wall in spots with a damp cloth. There are wide uneven strips of calk above the tub and around the sink. The tub itself has been painted in multiple spots, which looks awful. We have made multiple attempts to work with the business on resolving these issues and these have been ignored or made worse. On multiple occasions the contractor has cut off contact with us in the course of trying to address this, and is now completely unresponsive to contacts. We will need to hire another contractor to fix these issues as this one evidently does not have the skills to do so. We are seeking a refund in order to cover these additional expenses.

    Business Response

    Date: 08/29/2024

Response taken by phone:  They initially hired me because they tried to install an exhaust fan and ran into some problems.  They have a moisture issue which had damaged the ceiling.  We replaced the drywall in the ceiling and let them know that I would need to come back for a second coat of mud.  I did this before painting but this is an old house and it would be impossible to make this perfect.  When I came back we discovered an issue with the drywall on the walls of the bathroom.  Previous use of the shower without proper ventilation caused more damage than was in the original contract damage. I did this at no cost.  We were able to remove the paint from the vanity and the light and were told it was acceptable.  The house is settling and I tried to adjust the door and it was not sticking when I left.  I returned to the house five or six times to address their concerns.  The last time I was there, I was not told of any remaining issues.  I have pictures of the completed project.

The bathroom photos for my complaint are too large to send via email so I've included a dropbox link to a zip of the photos that show the poorly repaired wall and ceiling, with lumps, divots, inconsistent paint coloring, wide and uneven caulk borders, paint where there shouldn't be, missing paint where there should be, paint on the counter, etc. Also includes a picture showing where the edge of the tub liner was painted white in a poor attempt to cover up where the edge of the tub liner was painted blue by the contractor. Also includes a picture of the door showing that it was not planed to fit the door frame as promised.

I also want to clarify that the work the contractor falsely claims as done at no cost was in fact paid for. It was part of the original quote and the contractor failed to do it until he claimed the job was complete the first time and this omission was pointed out. He then claimed it was a new job that we would have to pay further for before relenting on being shown again the original quote.

Please let me know if you need anything else.
