I took my frenchie to get groomed at their location. I walked in, keep in mind I had an appointment, and the waiting area had three dogs waiting to be groomed and right after i arrived, three additional fur babies showed up. I total of 7 dogs waiting to get groomed. This is not a big location. I explained to the receptionist that he needs to be taken care of quickly, as he is a frenchie. She understood and said that she would call us as soon as he was done. Three and 1/2 hourse went by and no call. My husband decided to go to the store. Upon arrival he was told that they were just finishing up. My dog came our gasping for air. He laid out flat on the floor desperately struggling to take a breath. He then began to throw up. My husband asked what happened and got NO response. They suggested that we take him to the hospital up the road. They were well prepared to give him all the information as to the location of the hospital. My husband rushed him to the hospital where he continue to throw up two additional times in the car and his breathing was getting worse. They immediately took him in the back rooms and asked what happened. They proceded to tell us that our dog was very very sick. They had to intubate him, put an IV and begin fluids, his temperature was ***** and his lips were blue. They had a cooling jacket on him and had to ice him down to bring his temperature down. They gave him steriods and antibiotics among other medications. Then they asked the name of the groomer. They called and spoke with the owner *****, who we have come to learn is semi retired and lives in *******. Her staff now runs the business. She told them that they put my dog in a cage and had a HOT fan blowing on him to dry him off. They could not tell us how long he was left there. NEGLECT!!! His throat closed and he had an anxiety attack. The hopital told us that he could have died if my husband had not come to pick him up when he did. This business needs to shut down

We are deeply sorry for the distressing experience you and your Frenchie went through. The safety and well-being of pets in our care is our top priority, and we take your feedback very seriously. We have already addressed the situation with you and the Vet and have followed up to check on your pet's wellness and progress. The situation as it unfolded and as discussed is not in accordance with your review. We would like to address some of your points as follows:1. Immediate Attention: We understand the urgency of grooming French Bulldogs, due to their short snouts and breathing complications, and strive to follow all necessary precautions. You addressed with the front desk your dog's history of anxiety. To avoid an extended stay, we scheduled you for a late drop off at 11:00am. Our normal drop off time is between 8:00am and 10:00am, however we offer some walk-in services which may have caused additional foot traffic at your drop off time. You were given a 1:30pm pick up time over the phone when you called to check in on the progress of the grooming. We strive to minimize the grooming time for sensitive breeds with anxiety while also taking a slow pace approach to prevent any additional stress. 2. Incident Response: Our staff acted as per protocol by having the nearest animal hospital's contact ready (a hospital we work closely with on a regular basis), ensuring prompt medical attention if needed. Please note, we have already covered all the vet bills for this incident.3. *********************** The fans and dryers we use do not produce heat, and their purpose is to keep pets comfortable. In certain brachycephalic breeds (pushed in face breeds), we use our stand up dryers which use a more gentle air flow. For dogs with special needs, like anxiety, we avoid using our force dryers, as they are loud and powerful and may stress out a dog prone to anxiety. Instead, we use stand up dryers. We strive to minimize the stress associated with grooming as much as possible. It's important to note that some dogs can stress out and induce anxiety on their own, despite our best efforts.4. Consistent Care: The staff and manager of Jomar have remained the same for many years and have groomed your dog during his previous visit. We deeply regret that this incident occurred, especially considering your previous experience with us.While our grooming contract mentions the potential for exposing unknown illnesses, we continue to review and enhance our practices to prevent such incidents. Your feedback is a valuable tool for us to improve, and we hope to regain your trust. Please feel free to contact us directly with any further concerns or to discuss this matter further
