    On 8/8/22 we formally contracted Mr. **** Construction by signing his proposal/contract to redo home front stoop while following all village codes. On 10/11/22 we texted and called ***** of Mr. *** stating the village needed a drawing detailing the work to be done re: width and height of new steps/stoop so to follow village code. On 11/5/22 work was completed and we paid him $4500.00. Dispute: We were recently informed, the work was done incorrectly. The contractor didn't perform work according to Malverne village code that was supplied to him prior to the work starting. We were unaware of this until 2/7/24 when the village emailed both us and Mr. **** They stated they could not close out the permit for the new stoop because upon their inspection of said work, several violations were noticed. Mr. **** never notified them the work was completed and therefore a village inspection was not done until recently. He didn't follow the plans he submitted to the village. The violations were: steps weren't equidistant in height and width for each step as well as footing depth was not to code We were then notified the entire stoop needed to be redone. Not knowing this, we paid Mr. **** in full upon completion of project on 11/5/22. Mr **** was notified via email by the village on 2/7/24 but we never heard from him so a new contractor was hired and the stoop was redone properly. The cost to rectify the improper work and redo the stoop with additional footing to code was $7500.00.
