On June 27, 2023 I had Servpro come to my house to address flooding damage in my basement. I was originally verbally quoted a $1500-$2500 estimate for the job. It was performed over 6-6.5 hours (including an hour they took for lunch) and there were no noted changes or surprises to their job. I also needed to rent 15 drying machines for 48 hours. I got an invoice back charging $3400.00 ($3638 with tax). Since it was significantly over the estimate I inquired into the reason and the team lead, Nick, states that he originally told me $2500-$3500, to which I explained that I would have assuredly denied service at that price estimate. I requested an itemized bill. I got an email with a pdf showing "Water Damage & Remediation" 1.00 EA @ 3,400.00". Under that line there are several items, none of which have cost associated nor indication of their contribution to the total. More distressingly, there are several items that are fraudulent and could not be true (such as charging for emergency service, charging for removal of elements that do not exist (baseboard and wet insulation of which I do not have in the basement), rental of extra machinery, etc.) When I confronted the team lead, he indicated that the false charges were a "training error" and arbitrarily took $100 off for my "inconvenience". I spoke with him and told him that the fraudulent charges must have added up to more than $100 and he said that I should count myself lucky because they would have charged $5,257.40 to the insurance company and they are "giving me a discount". I took the matter to the President of their local branch, Ralph R*******, by calling him. I called once and left a message with my info and also called a second time without leaving a message. He just sent a letter demanding the 3531 again.
There is a wildly inaccurate estimate and fraudulent charges and that is not how business runs. I still have not been given an itemized bill and refuse to pay for work that was not done.
