On 1/4/25, I asked Donald Law (who I saw promoting his business on ********) if he was available to do some handyman jobs. He was. He then contacted me on Sunday, 1/5/25, and we entered into an agreement via text messages that he would perform 3 hours of tasks at my home on Tuesday, 1/7/25. He wanted $160, paid in advance. While I would normally not make the mistake of paying before services were rendered, I needed the work done and he claimed he had funeral expenses to cover. It was just 2 days later, so I agreed to his terms and ******* the full amount. Over the next several days, he not only did not come do the work but tried to push me to buy some old stuff he had so he could get even more money. He "blew up" my phone with problems and texts and voice texts. He even sent a ***** request for more money. He claimed that he had transportation issues and tried to get me to send him money for auto parts. I would not send more money but tried to accommodate him by offering that he could reschedule the job for that Thursday or Sunday. He did not agree to come on either of those days but I noticed on his ******** page he was soliciting new business for both construction and snow removal so I have to believe his transportation issues are now resolved. I have repeatedly asked him to refund my money. I need to pay someone else to get the job done. (One of the items was assembling my snow blower, which would take all of 15 minutes but since he isn't coming out, I must get someone else immediately as it keeps snowing, I'm a senior citizen, and I need to clear my driveway.) I simply want my $160 refunded and no further contact from him.

October 2023 entered messaging Donald Law of His & Hers Affordable Construction LLC for hiring services of snow removal for the 2023-2024 season. Paid $225 by *****, signed a contract for services. First snowfall yesterday, no show, no phone answer, no email answer, no ******** message answer. Complete scam artist, who is an absolute fraud and is still dodging my attempts to contact him and has blocked me and changed name on ******** to avoid me. Have looked at reviews regarding his business, and ALL SAY THAT HE SCAMMED GHEM OUT OF MONEY! I want my money back

I hired a local contractor to paint the inside of my house, install new doors , install new baseboard. The contractor left the house an awful mess after giving him more than what was quoted on the contract. The job was not completed and the contractor left the job without finishing. He did not give us the receipts for the products that we bought

    Business Response

    Date: 09/01/2023

BBB spoke to the business owner and the following was relayed:  They got more work and labor, much more work and much more labor than what they paid for.  In the contract it specifically states that costs may change.  All contractor contracts state this because you never really know what you might run into.  Well, we ran into a lot but as a favor I did not charge them extra.  I would say that they got about $10k worth of work and I charged them just under $2k.  They told me not to return.  So how can I be held responsible for not going back when they told me not to return?  My wife, who works with me fractured her wrist in these customer's house while working on this project and I took her to the ER.  They got mad that we left and told us not to come back.  Again, I was trying to help them out- this is the first complaint I've ever had because I do good work.  They are not telling the whole truth.  And they got much more than what they paid for.  Thank you.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.
