Over charge of cremation fee. On 10/26/22 I was charged 4297.00 for cremation service. 2 other estimates were reviewed with Mr Loomis. After receiving two other estimates that were 4xs less than what I was charged Mr. Loomis's fees were questioned. Mr. Loomis became very upset-stated he was " Poor, and had high blood pressure and that I was causing his BP to go up ". Details of the bill were in question as there were many asterix- with no exact fee-Mr. Loomis became irate and hung up the phone. NO resolution to this unimaginable overcharge. I was also not informed verbally of the 3% fee for using a credit card. I had a blank check with me and would have used that if the details of the bill were explained. In a time of great grief myself and my family were taken advantage of and I DO NOT WANT THIS TO HAPPEN TO OTHERS.

ID # ******** This family has gone through an extensive amount of tragedy and grief. I met with *******, her husband and the deceased, two daughters, following New York State law, and the FTC laws they were giving a general price list before anything was discussed. I went over the price list with them. They were also given an itemized bill With our services rendered in which they signed for after we reviewed it. There was no disagreements. There was no arguments or discussions regarding my prices. On the contract in which they signed it states a 3% fee for credit card payments for processing fees that are out of the funeral homes control , they left the funeral home and I continue doing my job as I have for 40 plus years. Several days later I received a phone call from a gentleman stating he was *******'s brother and he's from California and the communication became unbearable so I simply hung up. Yes, there are several funeral homes in our area of Western New York that charge ridiculous low prices and work for a corporate chain. We are a full service family owned funeral home doing business for five generations. Starting in 1893 and continuing today in 2022 if we were taking advantage of families, we would not be in business this long. as I stated in the beginning, this family has gone through severe tragedy and trauma with the death of their sister and mother and daughter I've known this family my entire life what is happened to them is horror, complete horror, and I would not want that to happen to any family I know. In closing yes there are two funeral homes that charge $650 and one charges 895 we charge 3665 and we discussed all of my prices before I even started asking questions in the beginning of the funeral conference , our fees are suggested by our accountants and an actuary in order for us to stay in business. We are not the least expensive, nor are we the most expensive. We are in the middle of the road respectfully James R. Loomis, Jr. president in owner.
