I hired Peter to enhance my closet. The project included installing oversized doors. I noticed shortly after that the closets didn't always close correctly on their hinges but thought that it was something that I could adjust myself. What I didn't realize was that the reason the hinges weren't closing properly was because the doors he used were mostly hollow wood and too heavy, causing them to sag and deteriorate. In January I saw that the closet doors were actually buckling at the bottom and were close to completely breaking. I called him and he came over to look. He said he could replace the doors, but asked how long we would be living in the apartment, because if it were more than a couple of years, this would happen again. He knew that the doors wouldn't hold up and admitted it. I asked for a better solution. I followed up multiple times with no response. He finally said that the door company didn't get back to him. This is not the door company's problem to fix, it is his. As a general contractor, he is responsible for using proper materials and finding solutions rather than excuses, especially when he admits that his materials were not right for the job.
