My last visit to Gold's Islip was on March 16, 2020, for Personal Training. At that time, I still had one more already paid $79 training session left.I never received any communication from ****'s to inform me that they reopened or to set up personal training again. When I saw I had been charged again, I called and learned that my trainer no longer worked for Gold's Gym. I was able to receive my November and December 2020 payments, freeze my account for 6 months, and told that I must contact the manager about the remainder. At that time I was owed a $79 training session and payment of $120. I tried calling the manager without success. Meanwhile, I was charged another 3 months (another $120) and froze the account again for another 6 months. I tried calling and emailing the manager without success. Finally, after emailing again and threatening to alert the BBB, I received a reply from the manager stating that my account would be frozen until I return. I was never contacted further by Gold's Gym. Meanwhile, my credit card was charged another $40. This week, I received a letter from a debt collector stating I owe Gold's Gym $282.50. I called the collector to dispute and tried to explain the situation but all they wanted was payment. They said that without payment the collection would continue.Since the pandemic, I have had a knee replacement, a patellectomy of the other knee, a broken ankle, back injuries from a car accident, and pneumonia. I am still doing physical therapy before I can even consider going back to the gym. At this point in time and form, when I am able I will most likely consider finding another gym rather than return to Gold's Islip. Truthfully, I just want to settle this and put it all behind me, without affecting my credit or putting any more money out.
