This complaint concerns a seasoning company, American Spices LLC, Spice Class. On Sunday, October 2, 2022, I used Spice Class whole cloves herbs in my recipe. While pouring out a tablespoon of cloves, a long black strand of hair was intertwined in the seasoning. I have been using this product for a few weeks now and the thought that there was hair in the seasoning is utterly repulsive. The hair is could not be my hair, I have different texture of hair and different color of hair for that strand to be mine. I tried to reach out to the company, but I was met with threats that they have lawyers and did not want to help me resolve this issue. I purchased the product for $5.99. It is not so much about the money, but more so about getting this facility audited by food and safety. it is obvious the facility is not taking the appropriate handling and safety protocols when handling food. There should never have been hair found in a sealed container. I would not want this to happen to anyone else. I was unable to unload the video I have. The video can be sent upon request.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

    [Your Answer Here]

The company claims I would have been able to see the black hair in clear bottles. The seasoning is black and the hair was found intertwined with the seasoning at the bottom of the bottle. There way, why would I inspect for hair in a seasoning bottle? I never had this situation happen to me.  The companys response was fabricated, below is the original complaint sent to the company via email.

I have been using Spice Class products for years. My local grocery store sells many of your seasonings. Recently I purchased a 5oz bottle of Spice Class whole cloves seasoning. As the bottle is a fair size Ive been able to use the product for a few months now. While I was cooking last Sunday I decided to add some whole cloves from my Spice Class bottle. Since Ive been using this product for a few months now Im almost at the bottom of the bottle. As I poured a tablespoon of cloves from the bottle, a long black string of hair was intertwined with the cloves. I immediately took pictures and a video of the hair. I was so utterly disgusted thinking Ive been using this product for months now. Who knows how many small strands of hair was in the product that I didnt see. I am now thinking that this could be the case with all of your products. Due to this situation I never want to use Spice Class products. Your factories must be unsanitary and workers obviously are not properly covering their hair.

I need to be reimbursed for this product and provided with compensation for such a repulsive situation.  I also feel it is my duty to inform ********** of ****** food Inspections so there can be a thorough audit of Spice Class factories.

In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

    Sincerely,
