I signed a contract for the company to provide expertise in waterproofing my cellar by installing French drains and a sump pump. They provided me with detailed information about what I had to do to prepare the space for the installation. They gave me incorrect infirmation about packing up three large cabinets with glassware that are on the first floor. They did not even mention or advise me to consider having the peeling chipping paint removed from the foundation walls and repairing the old plaster ceiling in the cellar. After the drains were installed it became clear that the paint chipped and plaster fell from ceiling into the gravel between the newly cemented area covering the drains and the walls. I did all of the preparation they directed. After the work was completed the Vulcan service person who was sent to install the dehumidifier the following week and my plumber who had to reinstall the washer dryer and a new sink both pointed out to me this was going to be a problem. After I had paid Vulcan over $10,000 for the work they did on Nov. 11 and 14. The dehumidifier still had not been installed. I had to hire a contractor who spent a full day preparing the cellar all over again plus protecting the drains to do this work which should have been fine BEFORE the work Vulcan did. Vulcan did not show up in the date they were supposed to start, Nov. 10 and did not call me to tell me they wouldnt be there. I had to track them down. They promised to finish it on the 11th but stopped before the workday was finished allegedly to go to the dump. No one came to inspect the work after it was finished on the following Monday, 11/14. I spoke to two people in the company snd requested an adjustment of the price because I had to have the prep and putting cellar back together again a serving time. I spoke to **** and ******, a production Manager. I was promised both times someone would call me back with a resolution. No one returned either call. They ignored me.

      Business Response

      Date: 12/21/2022

In regards to her complaint, we provided all the services indicated in her contract.  If we had known that she was scraping the walls and ceiling which was not indicated on the contract we would have waited to install our system after that process.  **************** contacted our office on December 5th with concerns and asking for a credit on her balance due to these issues which were not of any fault of ours.  We called her and left her a message offering her $300 off her current balance.  We have not heard back from the customer.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********* and after further discussions with a representative of the company we have reached an agreement.  They offered to reduce the contract price by $500 and I have accepted their offer and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me and the matter has been resolved.  We have a new written agreement and final invoice. After the final work is completed on Jan. 11 I will pay the new balance.  Thank you to the BBB for your assistance and to Vulcan for negotiating in good faith.

      Sincerely,

      ***** ******
