I checked into the hotel (room ***) at 10:30 pm Friday night. No one was there and there door was locked I had to call multiple times and bang on the door to be let in for a key. I was told the office closes at 8 pm. I saw no signs stating this nor anywhere online.

I checked into the freezing cold room. I assumed they hadn’t rented yet for the season and turned on the heat. The toilet was covered in black mold, no soap, no towels or blankets on the bed just sheets but it was late and I just needed a bed so I passed out and woke up and left by 7 am the next day. I retuned from working and opened the door and bugs scattered up the wall behind a picture. Assuming the heat had woken them up. I cringe thinking about it. The fridge had black mold, the tv outlet was heavily overloaded and the smoke alarm above it was missing. The shower had black mold as well. I went to the office to complain it was locked (6pm) and then left the key and left. I went back in the morning to let them know and office was still locked and no one there at 845 am. I did not stay there and did not receive a refund for any of my time there. I contacted the police but they could only take a report in person and I am back in vt now. It’s a health concern at the VERY least.

There were multiple spiders and other bugs, dust everywhere, hairs and stains on the sheets, hairs in the drain, empty wrappers, stains on the faucets, plumbing that leaks used water to the floor every time you wash your hands, the bathroom smelled, etc. We went back to the check in desk and reported this. He told us they have no other room availability and he saw the cleaning lady at our room this morning. There was nothing else he said or was willing to do. My family and I ran to the ****** ******* nearby, bought cleaning supplies, and spent the next hour cleaning the room, putting our own sheets on the bed, etc. The manager- who is apparently the owner and there is no actual manager- was supposed to meet us at 9 am the next morning. After waiting for a bit, he showed up to the front desk looking surprised to see us. As I yet again began explaining the condition of our room, another customer came in and he went to help her mid-conversation. She had some complaints- hair in the drain, a clogged drain so they couldn’t shower, blood on the sheets, etc. I explained my situation as well. The owner essentially blamed us for not bringing it to his attention earlier—even though we reported this to his staff within minutes of checking in. He raised his voice numerous times and kept trying to pass us off to his Housekeeping colleague, who clearly told us that there is nothing she’s able to do for us in her position and that it would be up to the owner. The owner refused to listen to us, refund us, or do anything about this experience. He even demanded the key from me to check me out, while all our stuff was still in the room and we hadn’t packed up yet. This owner was inappropriate, disrespectful, and unprofessional. This hotel room was disgusting, unclean, and very concerning during a pandemic. That all being said, the next morning, we saw that there are actual children who are doing labor (likely younger than 14, but we did not ask their age) claiming to help their aunt.
