We had a reservation for a campsite for the Labor Day weekend 8/29/24 thru 9/1/24 and had our tow vehicle have a major break down while traveling to the campground, which for us is a 3 hour drive. We called the campground to let them know that we would be a late arrival only to find out the issue could not be repaired until 09/03 so made a second call to tell them we couldn't get there.. We had placed a deposit of $597.00 on the reservation which by their policy was NOT refundable which we were aware of but Gary the park manager I spoke with was very addiment about not even allowing us to pay a small service fee and move our reservation to a later date or 2025 as we have been a previous camper there. The policy does NOT state that the deposit can't be used for another reservation. Gary the park manager had no feeling for our situation as we ended up in a hotel that we also had to pay for plus towing, vehicle repair and camper storage while the vehicle was being repaired. We really don't want the deposit back but would like to be compensated for another reservation date. Currently the RV Park made $597.00 from us and we did not use the park so it was all pure profit. Based on this situation we found out they really don't care about their customer's but just their profit margin. Please help. Thanks.

    Business Response

Hi Kevin, Thanks for following up with me regarding this complaint. I did speak personally to this customer.  The holiday reservation in question requires a 14 day cancellation notice which the customer was aware of.  Due to the lateness of this cancellation, we were not able to resell this site after turning away many other guests wishing to make reservations during this busy holiday period. The guest’s site sat unoccupied for the whole weekend as it was too late to resell it.  I explained to the guest that I cannot be responsible for all the issues that may come up on the customers end as I have no control over their particular situation and cannot shoulder their loss.  Customer did become angry with me and eventually hung up.  Guest is not able to return to our property in the future due to their behavior with our front desk staff over the phone.  Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance. Gary T********* General Manager Lake George RV Park

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  Regarding what Gary ( the RV Park Manager ) failed to mention in his response was that I had given them notice as soon as we had a tow vehicle break down and the larger item he left out was that his employee hung on my first call to the customer service line informing them of our situation as I was already frustrated at the situation and their rep didn't care or have an feelings for the situation. It was all about the money!!!!!. I did hang up when speaking wiith Gary as he was not very customer feeling or friendly as the parks that we have been to over the past 10 years. Regarding not going there is fine with me ( their financial lose as they already took my money ) as we have had issues with other camp visitiors back a few years ago and spoke with their ranger and NOTHING was done about our complaint. The question I have is does he park owner aware of Gary's attitiude and response who I will be contacting next.

    Regards,
