      Customer Answer

Baker logging took timber from my 45 acres and did not pay for the stumpage. They left my yard a mess and decreased the value of my land. They also backed into my barn causing it to buckle and shift the support beams back a foot or so.

      Business Response

Contracted with *** in the fall of 2022 for her property. She was given an estimate of between $6,000 and $8,000 for her timber. Her property had been heavily logged on 1988 and contained mostly pulpwood and low grade timber for this harvest. She initially told me where her access road was for logging. I checked with the survey company and they provided me with a survey showing that was the neighbors property. At that point the only option was to construct a road by her house to access the property. She agreed and was well aware that she was responsible for 50% of the cost as the contract stated. We did the road work and had material trucked to complete. This began around December 2022 and the winter weather didn't hold up for frost and we stopped working for 6 weeks due to the mud and soft conditions. Then *** started to complain about the mud along with saying my worker hit her barn which is 100 years old to begin with and damaged it. That is untrue it is in very rough shape to say the least. She also said we damaged her well also not true. It is a steel well casing along side the road we constructed and a 5 gallon empty pail was placed on top for a marker so it wouldn't be affected. A well casing made of steel would be almost impossible to damage and most likely would cause significant damage to our equipment. Then she kept going on and complaining and we stopped work completely and left her property.  I believe that when I told her that she owed $4250 for the road work and materials at %50 her cost as agreed upon that she decided to complain and make accusations about damage so she wouldn't have to pay. I was told the first day by the town of Horicon highway superintendent ****** that *** is trouble and to watch myself. She is not well liked and her neighbors don't have anything good to say about her except that she is crazy and a alcoholic. Right from the start she told me the road was on her property. That turned out to be a lie and caused the Warren county sheriff to respond twice for trespassing. The surveyor *** ***** *** *****'s confirmed it was not hers and the neighbors. She didnt care it would be me responsible for going on someone's property not her and made me realize the type of person she was. Hope this helps.

      Thanks Bernie
