I hired Selective Quartz Marble and Granite in October 2023 to install Granite tops for my outdoor kitchen. I wasn't home when he installed it he came a week early. When I looked at the top there were cracks and chips everywhere on the granite top when I brought this to his attention he said he would fix any and all issues with the top. I have called his office a number of times and left messages on his voicemail. After about a month of calling he finally returned my phone call. He said he would come over and take a look at the problem. When he showed up she started a fight with me and threaten me that he's not doing anything for me that we don't have a contract at which time he started screaming profanity at me and the pushed me into the my fence and threaten my life at which time I called the police and filed a complaint. I paid him $14,500 dollars cash.

Selective Quartz was contacted by the client on June 15, 2022 for the installation of a barbeque counter top.  The client had selected a counter top material, from the company Global where he had originally seen the color he wanted to use for his barbeque.  When Selective Quartz was notified of this material, we advised the client that this type of stone is known to have ****** veins in the stone which could possibly open up over time. The stone is a natural stone and the client was advised that it could not be guaranteed that the stone would not open up from the ****** veins.  We explained to the client that ****** stones could be an issue and the possible problems with the use of this natural stone.  The client advised that he wanted to use this particular stone due to the color and the client decided to proceed with the use of the stone despite the possible risk of the stone opening up on the ****** vein.

The client ordered and we purchased the stone for the project with clients aproval of material,  on his own and after purchasing the stone, Selective Quartz  proceeded with the fabrication and installation of the countertop which was completed on July 20, 2022.  Following the installation, Selective Quartz returned to the project two times to correct some minor chips and the ****** vein as per the request of the client.  After these two follow **** the client contacted Selective Quartz again requesting a resolution of the issue with the ****** veins despite the fact that we had already advised him that the ****** veins in the natural stone could open up after installation.  When we arrived at the home, he was advised that the issue could not be fixed on that date and he was advised that it would be best if the work was completed after the winter season since the ****** veins tend to have issues following the winter exposure.   We were willing to do some repairs but advised that it should be completed after the winter season at which point the Client began cursing at me for "refusing to complete the work" even though I had agreed to perform the work.  The client then began to physically push me out of the house.  I advised the client that what he was doing was wrong and that he had cameras in his house that were actually recording what he was doing to me.

The client then walked me out of his house while at the same time pushing me with his belly.  He pushed me all the way to his front fence and then proceeded to threaten me that he was "going to bring your company down mother fucker".  I left the property and did not receive any follow up from him.

I eventually received a letter from the Better Business Bureau concerning the complaint the client made about my company.  In the complaint it states that the police were called during this incident because I had allegedly threatened the client's life.  This was the first notification I received of any complaint being made to the police regarding the incident described above and I have never received any notification from any law enforcement facility that any complaints were lodged against me.  In fact, the client was the one who was both verbally and physically abusive towards me during this incident and I never reported the altercation to the authority.

I received the letter from the Better Business Bureau where the client is requesting that the counters should be replaced, however, the client was advised of the issues with the natural stone and the ****** veins and he still decided to proceed with the installation using the natural stone he selected and purchased.  I have pictures of the finished project which document that the installation was completed properly and in a good workmanship manner.  In fact, the client was ecstatic about the installation and had asked for Selective Quartz to perform the same work with the same type of material in his indoor kitchen after the installation was completed.

Selective Quartz completed the project in a proper fashion and the only issue was the ****** veins which the client was made aware of when he selected the specific natural stone.  Despite the fact the he was advised of the issues, Selective Quartz did try to accommodate the client but when he became both physically and verbally abusive, we did not believe it was safe to return to the home and we were actually physically thrown off the property.  We do not believe that a replacement of the stone is the responsibility of Selective Quartz as the issues involve the natural ****** veins on the stone which the client assumed the responsibility for when he selected it after being advised of the potential defects that could occur.  The issues that the client experienced were in no way related to the actual installation and work performed by Selective Quartz and the allegations by the client are unfounded and should be dismissed as against Selective Quartz.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The only part of his response that is true is that we hired him to install the granite top of $15,000 (CASH). Our contractor who recommend him to us said what he did was wrong and that he would never recommend him again.

There is a police report filed with the 4th president.  We have checked with Consumers Affairs if he had a business license to do business in ************** and they said no.

If this can't be resolved our next step is to take him to court to get our money back.

    Sincerely,
