    12am Thanksgiving morning 2023 my vehicle broke down on throughway 86 in Albany NY. The serpentine belt came off. Noone but the throughway patrol is allowed to be contacted for this throughway, so I called them and my vehicle was taken to Dawson's autobody & towing. Dawson's has a contract with the throughway so my vehicle was going to go there no matter what. My family, (boyfriend & 2 year old daughter ) got a ride to our destination, Portland maine so we could enjoy the holiday with family. When I contacted Dawsons they told me they're an auto body shop that does not fix serpentine belts (a job that only takes about an hour thar we'd have done ourselves had it not been 12 am on Thanksgiving) and that I could not get my vehicle until Monday, as they were closed for business for the holiday and only doing towing. They impounded my vehicle, and claimed the storage was $60 a day. My father, **** ***** called Dawson's and they told **** he could get the vehicle Saturday, and that they wanted $600 to get put Saturday, $275 for towing and $325 for 3 days of storage??? My vehicle arrived at Dawson's in-between 3-and 5 am Thanksgiving morning! How is that $60 a day for storage? Dawson's has terrible reviews and because we had to get a rental to get home ($1300) from Portland maine to erie pa, we could not afford to rent a car and pay Dawson's they're over priced amount. They're reviews on Google are terrible and many people say "highway robbery " and I completely agree. Dawsons is taking advantage of the contract they have with the throughway & of people in need. I don't want to pay them anything, it looks like I just lost my car over a cheap serpentine belt.
    Outrageous and absolutely ruined the holiday.
