    Precision Builders of Long Island extended the size of the second floor of our home and constructed a new master bathroom. The job was paid in full. After payment, a problem with the new heating system in the expanded bedroom and new bathroom became evident. The heating system makes an excessive amount of noise which renders sleeping impossible. We notified Precision of the issue and the business owner initially attempted to resolve the problem himself by placing pieces of foam behind the newly installed pex piping , securing some areas of pex piping and bending a a portion of the newly installed slant fins. This effort did not resolve the problem and so Precision sent a plumber to evaluate the situation. The plumber provided Precision with a plan to correct the faulty workmanship. Precision then sent a contract to correct the situation. Unfortunately, in addition to containing the scope of work the contract included a clause that read no further work will be done to this area. Rather than sign a document that would negate our warranty (in the event that the issue was not resolved and the pipes continued to make excessive noise or even leak) we added language stating that the terms of the original contract would still remain in effect including the one year warranty period (work concluded 12/13/2021). Precision has not responded to telephone calls or correspondences sent between May 5, 2022 and today. The pex piping was installed incorrectly; because it is not properly secured it moves excessively as water passes through it, thus causing it to strike its enclosure resulting in loud banging noises which makes it impossible to sleep. Additionally, the new shower only dispenses hot and warm water and not cold or cool water either the valve or the shower trim control needs to be repaired, We would like the problems resolved before the upcoming heating system begins.

    Business Response

    Date: 10/07/2022

    Dear ****************

    I am sorry to see that you have made a complaint at the Better Business Bureau. I have not heard from you in several months, so I was surprised to see this. When we last left off, all you had to do is sign the work agreement, give me a call and I would have rectified the problem immediately. I understand that the baseboard heat in the master bath is making noise. I sent you an agreement stating that I would replace the pex piping to copper piping. You have not signed and returned it. Perhaps you misunderstood it, my warranty on the agreement would only pertain to leakage and not for further noise. Heating always makes a little "tinkling" noise when it comes on due to the expansion and contraction of the pipes and heat fins. In addition, your house is very poorly piped from the basement up through the second floor. Your heating piping is running erratically throughout the house. Perhaps you should bleed the air out of your system regularly. Please let me know if you would like to schedule an appointment to have the pex heat pipes exchanged to copper in the master bathroom.

    Thank you!

    Respectfully,

    ************************;

    President

    Better Business Bureau:

    I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

    Precision Builders did, finally and thankfully, send  a plumbing crew to correct the issue with the faulty pex piping in the bathroom.  However, the shower trim control issue has yet to be resolved.  Precision initially stated in a phone conversation that a date for the plumbers return would be established but subsequent follow up messages have been ignored  The shower has been completely inoperable for over a month now (it now just dispenses extremely hot water).

    In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

    Sincerely,

    *************************
