On October 2, 2023 at 5pm, I took (and left) my 2015 *** Acadia truck with approximately ******* mile to Midas in **********, ********. Upon arrival, I spoke with *****, the shop manager and requested a vehicle full diagnostic prior to any work being done. October 5, 2023 Contacted *****, the Manager at Midas for a follow-up and was informed by ***** that we have not touched the car yet. I reiterated the need for a diagnostic prior to any work being done on the vehicle. On October 9, 2023, as **** claims adjuster ***************************** went to Midas of Middletown to assess the vehicle as I would be submitting a claim for vehicle repair. The adjuster requested a pre and post diagnostic from ***** per *** guidelines. On or about October 20th ***** informed me of the following vehicle issues power steering pump, wheel bearings and heater hose. At no point in time was I informed there was an electrical issue with my car.On November 4th, I arrived at Midas to pick up my vehicle. Upon arrival, I was given documentation to sign. Once the documentation was signed and the work paid for, my vehicle was brought to me. Once I started my car (while still at Midas) I noticed the check engine light on. When I asked ***** about the check engine light, ***** said we do not deal with electrical issues. I asked ***** why I was not informed of an electrical issue when he knew the vehicle had an electrical problem and he did not have an answer for me. All he said was I would need to take the vehicle to the *** dealership for a diagnostic. On November 6th I took my vehicle to a *** dealership and was informed that my vehicle needs a new transmission and would cost approximately $*****. On November 8th I went back to Midas and requested the diagnostic report from *****. ***** said they do not have record of the diagnostic results. I proceeded to call ****************** the **** Adjuster (who also requested a diagnostic report). A Midas employee overhead the conversation we were having on speaker phone and informed us (myself, Manager *****, and **** Adjuster ******************) that you can get proof of the diagnostic by connecting the handheld diagnostic machine to a printer via Bluetooth. Subsequently, Midas was unable to provide the requested diagnostic report. On November 10, due to these circumstances, I had to purchase a new vehicle as it did not make financial sense to invest more money to repair a 9 year old car with ******* miles on it. If I had been informed of an electrical issue in the beginning, I would not have repaired the car at all and would have put the $***** (cost of initial repairs + insurance deductible) towards the purchase of the new vehicle. Please bear in mind, the cost to get the vehicle in drivable condition was over $11,000.Midas cost: ***** *** repair Estimate: *****
