    Almost got taken in by the same scam as other folks - knocked on my door, said they were doing work "for a neighbor" and had some extra gravel left in the truck. Offered to run it through their grader and put it down on my driveway at roughly the cost of materials. This sounded like a win-win situation, so I said sure. Suddenly a different guy is calling me, they're coming out the next day with 3 trucks "and can get more material if we need it", they'll be there doing work for hours, etc. I tried to pin them down a bit - what neighbor were they doing work for, how much material are we talking, is this actually leftover material - and he kept talking over me, ignoring what I was telling him, and just generally trying to railroad me. I had to spend quite a bit of time (around half an hour) and be pretty forceful to tell him that no, I did not want him to come out, no, I was not hiring him for a job, no, if he dug up my driveway base with his grader that was not ok, over and over.They refused to give a quote, an amount of material, or an agreed on depth of gravel. Kept saying he couldn't give me an estimate on how many square feet it would be, and the price per square foot kept changing (varied by 30% over the course of the conversation). He wouldn't even tell me how many cubic yards of gravel were in the trucks he was planning to bring ('we just scoop it in to the truck, we don't know how much it is').I can't speak to the quality of their work, but any contractor that needs to resort to those tactics in this environment can't be getting very many recommendations. I would steer clear.

    Total scam operation. They knock on your door and offer a deal on left over material. They double-triple charge you when done. Shotty work too. Make sure you get an estimate in writing before dealing with these guys. Better yet, stay away!

    We are extremely satisfied with the work done by First Class Paving. Our driveway was in such bad shape from heavy rain and snow. These guys came along and worked so hard to make it look new and a pleasure to drive on. Again, very pleased with this company
