Signed up for a one time membership and sent the books back. ******** sent back new books even though that is not what the membership notes will happen (it is one time, not recurring). Attempted to send these books back, but the post office returned it due to the postage she provides not having correct dates. Reached out multiple times -with no response - about how to return the books to her. Now getting another charge for this "one time" membership. Still no response. It's a shame because we love the idea of the business - but it is poorly run.Customer Answer

Hi there,I subscribed to Kinderbooks New York for their initial trial offer of 8 German books to be loaned for 90 days for $28. I got 8 books in the mail and returned them within the 90 day period via the return mail parcel. It was perfect. I was done (or so I thought) though I wanted to subscribe properly because I loved the service. But when I asked for information via email a few times and didn't get a reply I decided not to sign up again. A few months later April I received an invoice in email for $28.00, showing zero to pay and I assumed it was a mistake because I didn't then receive books. Much later just after Christmas I realized I had received more invoice statements of $28.00 for July, October 2024, and January 2025. Confused, I emailed ******** on January 10, 2025 to ask why I was receiving these invoices when I had only signed up for a one time book service. No reply, and I honestly forgot about it as I unwisely don't check credit card statement so I thought I had been receiving them in error. Finally I received a paid invoice statement yesterday for $28.00. And it turns out I had been paying $28.00 each of those times, and no books have been received at all for the past 5 paid invoices, despite not having signed up for a regular 90 day service.Initial Complaint

I have been trying to reach Kinderbooks for almost two months. There is no response from the business owner, no books are being sent, and yet my credit card is being charged and there is no way to cancel on the website. I can't have these continuing.Customer Answer

I began my subscription in August of this year and received rental books for August and September. Even though my card was charged in October, I received no books. I made several attempts to contact ********, the owner, but received no reply. The account portal does not give me the option to cancel the subscription on my own - it has to be done on her end. I would like a refund for the month of October and immediate cancellation of my subscription. I was willing to be understanding, as I know this is a small business run as kind of a side-gig, but in light of the very poor communication and unwillingness to compromise, I would prefer to sever all ties completely. I should have looked up the business on this site before subscribing - it looks like she has done the exact same thing to other customers as well.Customer Answer

In April of this year I asked the owner via email to send me a new envelope to send the rented books back. When I didn't hear back after several attempts, I emailed her to cancel my membership. When I didn't get a response I subsequently called and left several messages, texted and continued to email, all to no avail. And my card on file is still being charged to this day every month. I have asked the credit card company to put a stop payment order which they have attempted to do, but my card is still being charged.Customer Answer

Like the other person who has filed a complaint I have been asking to have my subscription canceled for the last month with no response from the company. On February 22, 2023 I signed up for a free month trial for the subscription service. Nothing was sent. On March 22, 2023 I was charged since the trial was up. It is now April 21st (a day before my subscription renews again) and still no books received. I attempted to contact the business on 4 separate occasions (twice via email, once through their subscription portal, & finally through ******** messenger) just to see when the books would start coming as I wanted them for my classroom and thought I'd get a few rounds in before the school year ends. Unfortunately when you contact the business there is no proof of communication but that message was sent a few days before the March renewal charge. This last email and ******** message has been me requesting cancellation as I have received no communication and no books. Its a shame as I was a subscriber in the past and it was a great service.Customer Answer

I have been trying to cancel my monthly subscription to this business since January 2, 2023. I have made four attempts (2 emails, 2 calls) with no response. I need help!The businesss website states that cancellations may occur with a simple email to ********. I have emailed ******** twice and called her phone number, which is also listed on the website, twice with requests to cancel our subscription. I have received nothing in return since January except more charges.The businesss portal also contains no options to cancel the subscription. Attached is a copy of my latest email to the business from March 2, 2023. I simply want to cancel this service and my attempts have failed. Please help!
