I was contracted to work as a Post-Production Coordinator in the ************ area from 05/31/20 - 06/23/20 for a series of web shorts for Radical Media. As the Post Production-Coordinator one of my first responsibilities was to staff the production with qualified individuals who I shared a professional work history with.On June 6th, 2020 after working on the production for nearly a week, the Assistant Editor and I, were notified by our supervisor that he was being terminated immediately. We knew this supervisor to be very well qualified and experienced. I shared an office with this supervisor and got to see him firsthand working diligently to get production on schedule when there was no workflows setup. One of the first he did when I showed up was request payroll get started on payment for the employees. Once we were notified that our supervisor was being terminated, the ** and I expressed to the Supervising Producer how our supervisor was an integral part of our work. The Supervising Producer told us he would try to mediate the matter within Radical Media. Our co-workers began to gather around to see what the issue was. Then, another person present intervened and asked for us to turn in our work badges as others looked on. As employees we needed those work badges to enter the building. We stood there confused and handed in our badges to the person who requested them. The employees present were shocked one person cried. Then, the three of us were escorted off of the property. The Supervising Producer told us this wasnt over and that would try to get us back in. We went back to hotels, I received no contact from management. The next morning I was notified by the hotel manager, to check out that very moment as my reservation had been cancelled. I immediately called the Supervising Producer, who confirmed all three of us were now terminated. In my many years of working in the film industry this is the only time where I was fired in such a manner. My cautionary tale.
