I have been attending this vocational program since may of last year with the understanding that the program would only be 5 months and that my financial aid would cover my expenses. Since being enrolled into the program I have had to pay cash out of pocket to make up for hours because they have supposedly lost their funding and none of this money I have given the school has been credited towards my student loans . My expected end date for said program was ******* 13 of this year and I am being told I have to do externship and also a class that was supposed to be taken in ******* was pushed back because it was unavailable. I am unemployed and struggling and they have been trying to take all the money I have to make up for things that they do. It even have in order. The school has no good equipment very lax and non caring instructors and they are very unorganized and u professional. I started my externship in ******* and because I couldnt work the hours that we being offered to me they made me start again at another externship site and now are threatening termination for not sending in documents that I have already sent in to them . Im very good at what I am doing and I feel they are trying to stagnate my process and discourage me because if I miss out or get terminated from this externship I have to start over I am unable to look for work because I will not be certified yet and the want me to pay ***** + and I feel they are pushing me towards failing so they can receive money from me . Please assist me in this situation it is becoming overwhelming and it has been very unfair to not just me but other student who attend this school. thank you.

    Business Response

Firstly, the program for which ******* ****** registered
and is still enrolled is the Medical Assistant (MA) program, which is a
900-hour program that takes at least 9 months to complete. The student has a
signed Enrollment Agreement that states the length of time, so there is a
misunderstanding on the student’s part when she filed this complaint about it
    being 5 months.

******* signed up to use her Financial Aid, which covered the
full cost of the program, so she did not have a balance. The reason that she had to “pay cash
out of pocket” was due to additional hours beyond the contracted 900 hours that she had to complete to make up hours
for a particular subject. This is also stated in the Enrollment Agreement and
is discussed during orientation. She was scheduled to complete the program in
January of 2024, but due to *******’s need to make up hours, she did not start
    her externship as expected.

All Medical Assistant students must complete a 250-hour
externship at a medical facility that we partner with and have an affiliation agreement. These
are separate companies/employers that are not part of New Age Training.
Additionally, when ******* started her externship, she was dismissed from the externship site by the site manager due to her not attending regularly and not
following her agreed-upon schedule. As a result, and due to our policy, *******
was reassigned to her second externship site, where she had to restart her 250
externship hours from the beginning. She is currently completing hours at her second externship site.

When a student needs to repeat a class/externship or make up hours, these hours are additional hours that are not covered by the cost of the program. Our policies state that a student must pay $5.50/hr beyond the contracted hours in order to repeat the class or make up the hours. Although ******* had to repeat the externship (250 hours), which is considered a class, she was not charged the $5.50/hr for the 250 hours ($1375), so her claim abut having to pay $1000 is not accurate. She was warned that if she is dismissed from the externship site again and has to be reassigned again, she will need to pay to retake the externship again as per our make-up policy if she wishes to graduate.

Her claims about unprofessionalism and the school not
having equipment and caring instructors are baseless. By no means are we trying
to discourage or delay ******* from graduating. Our school is a licensed and accredited school that is required to have all of the necessary equipment as stated in the curriculum that is approved by the NYSED. It is also very important to note that each staff and faculty member goes above and beyond to assist our students throughout the program and keep them on track to graduate. There are unforeseen situations that may cause a student to be delayed or terminated if they do not follow our policies that are in the school catalog that can be found on our school's website.

I met with ******* in late May due to her not attending
externship again, and she provided a doctor’s note due to her condition, which
caused her to miss several days. I explained to her that she was the one
delaying her graduation, and her sporadic attendance was the reason she was
dismissed from her first externship site. I encouraged her to avoid letting
this happen again by being punctual and not calling out or missing any more
days from externship. I discussed each of the issues she claimed in her complaint
with her, and she expressed satisfaction with the explanations she received.

******* has completed more than half of her externship
hours and is expected to complete her externship and graduate in June.

Please let us know how this matter can be closed without
affecting our rating or standing with the BBB.

    Thank you once again.

    Warm regards,
