Here’s my most recent experience with Clarins USA.
I placed an order for 2 creams on November 11.
The order in question gets stuck on Claris USA website as ‘being processed’ for TWO WEEKS.
No acknowledgement of the delay, no apology from Clarins.
There is NO option on the website to cancel the order.
On November 24 – the Black Friday promotion rolls in (20% off 2 items, 25% off 3+ items).
I place another order for the same 2 creams with a 20% off for 2 items promotion. And I email Clarins USA and ask them to cancel the November 11 order.
On November 26 I get a response from Clarins representative ******. She states that once an order is placed it CANNOT be canceled. Even if it has not been fulfilled for 2 weeks. The only option Clarins gives its customers is to return the order once you’ve received the package and PAY THE RETURN SHIPPING.
And by the way, she says, your order from November 11 just shipped and it will be with you soon. (The conversation happens on November 26.)
After I express my disappointment with the whole situation, Clarins deigns sending me the prepaid return label.
Then I ask Clarins if as an alternative, they would just apply the 25% off promotion to both orders I placed instead of me having to send both orders back and them having to process the items. Since the 2 orders constitute 4 items which I am receiving during the Black Friday weekend anyway.
Their answer is a simple no. They cannot apply discounts to past orders. Just take it or leave it.
If you ask me, that’s the Stone Age of doing business. Maybe it’s okay in Europe to treat customers this way, but I’ve never seen anything like that in the US. Even a small mom and pop shop here will let you cancel an order. Especially, if they have not been able to fulfill it for 2 weeks. But Clarins is not a small mom and pop shop. It’s a large international corporation… This corporation would benefit immensely from being less indifferent towards their clientele and less rigid.
