I paid 24 months of ****** for 2 different credit cards. They promised to be my lawyer and take care of Midland credit. That both debts would be taken off my credit. But it's not true. I'm getting calls from **************. They want proof that I went through consumer legal group to pay these debts. I've called consumer legal group. Sat online for 30 mins to be transfered and leave a message. That they would call me back. I've gotten no response. So they stole from me. I bought their product and did not recieve the product. So now I get to find a way to pay off the debt on my own.Business Response

We respectfully respond to the complaint filed, who alleges she paid for legal services related to two Midland Credit accounts and received no assistance. This claim is inaccurate and contradicted by her signed Service Agreement. The client enrolled multiple accounts totaling over $12,000 in debt and authorized us to dispute those debts. The agreement clearly explains that *** is a law firm, not a credit repair company, and makes no guarantees regarding credit report outcomes. She initialed acknowledgments confirming her monthly payments were for legal representation, not to be held in escrow or paid to creditors.
Throughout the duration of her program, our team worked diligently on her file. On April 22, 2025, we conducted a quarterly review call and provided updates on our cases. During that call, the client mentioned new Midland Credit notices, and our representative provided instructionsvia phone and SMSfor uploading those documents so our legal team could take further action. She left a voicemail on July 3, 2025, during the holiday weekend, and we promptly returned her call the next business day on July 7, 2025, at 9:02 AM EST. Her claims of being ignored or stolen from are without basis.
We provided legal support as outlined in the signed contract, which clearly states that we earn fees upon payment and do not guarantee specific results.
Despite this, we acted in good faith and offered continuous support. As such, we consider this matter resolved and closed. We will not respond to further unsubstantiated claims. Supporting documents, including the signed agreement and service logs, are on file and available upon request.Initial Complaint

Began using Consumer Legal Group to help me reach a settlement with ********************* in 2023. Here it is June 2025, nothing has been done, and I even found out that ********************* doesnt even work with debt consolidation or debt relief companies. I paid CLG $318 monthly for 2 years and was only granted a refund of less than $1000. An email from them said the rest was for legal fees and services! Very upset that Im already struggling just to find out that Im out of all that money for absolutely nothing!Business Response

Thank you for your feedback. We understand your concerns and regret any frustration this matter has caused. Please be assured that we have conducted a comprehensive review of your account and its entire communication history.
Our records confirm that you enrolled in our legal services program in 2023. Our team conducted a welcome call in September 2023 and maintained consistent follow-up, including documented 30-, 60-, 90-, and 120-day check-ins. During each of these calls, you did not indicate any desire to pursue a negotiated settlement with *********************. Instead, the communications focused on other aspects of your case, including clarification of the dispute process and confirmation of documentation received.
Additionally, during a discussion on May 12, 2025, our representative reviewed the validation packet with you. Again, there was no mention or request regarding settlement efforts. After numerous reviews of the call recordings and case notations, it is evident that there were no outstanding questions or objections from your end concerning our scope of services, and you did not request to shift the strategy toward settlement.
We recognize that ********************* may not participate in third-party settlement programs, which further underscores the importance of the legal dispute resolution strategy we pursued. The partial refund issued to you was extended as a goodwill gesture following your intent to seek bankruptcy, not due to any failure in service delivery. The remaining balance accounts for ******************** work performed throughout the duration of your enrollment, including document preparation, creditor correspondence, dispute development, and attorney review.
That said, we regret that you remain dissatisfied with the outcome. However, we have conducted a thorough review of your account, including all call recordings, documented interactions, and services rendered, by the terms of your legal agreement. Based on this due diligence, we consider this matter resolved and the complaint closed.
We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns.Customer Answer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:********************* was added with Consumer Legal Group. This was my main reason for retaining **** services, *** was the only company that claimed they could help me with ****. After 2 years at a payment of $318 a month, nothing had been done with the **** account other than a cease and desist letter. The periodic calls from *** were mainly just telling me that things were moving normally. I paid nearly $6,000 to CLG over 2 years and was granted a refund of just under $1,000. *** says the rest of my money went towards legal fees and their services..what service did they provide that costed that much.
In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

In response to this complaint, we would like to clarify that cease and desist letters, in addition to initial dispute letters, were sent on the clients behalf to the creditor associated with the account they enrolled. However, it is important to note that our clients are not simply paying for us to dispute accountsthey are retaining legal representation for the accounts they enroll. The fees paid to our firm are structured as a flat-rate legal retainer, not based on individual tasks performed.
As part of our legal services, the periodic calls referenced by the client are a necessary and important component of our ongoing representation. These calls often involve inquiries about whether the client has received any communications from the creditorsuch as harassment, notice of litigation, or information about the account being sold to a third-party collector. These updates are crucial to ensuring we can respond appropriately and tailor our strategy to the clients evolving situation.
While CLG cannot and does not guarantee specific results regarding the outcome of our representation or the effect of our dispute efforts, we can guarantee that our team will act diligently and in the best interests of each client to secure the most favorable result possible given their circumstances. In some instances, a form of resolution may include the absence of further collection activity following the issuance of a cease and desist letterespecially when the debt ages into a time-barred status or falls off the clients credit report.
It is also important to reiterate that CLG is not a debt settlement firm. Accordingly, we do not initiate settlement negotiations. However, should a creditor or third-party collector present a settlement offer, our legal team is able to respond on the clients behalf, whether to attempt to negotiate a reduced balance or to seek a dismissal when appropriate. Additionally should a creditor or third-party attempt to litigate against our client, our team would be able to assist in that regard.
Regarding the clients concerns about our program fees, our flat-rate model is specifically designed to make legal representation more accessible. In ********, where the client resides, traditional legal fees can exceed $300 per hour. Our model offers a more affordable alternative for those seeking assistance in managing complex and often burdensome debt-related legal issues.Customer Answer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT beenIn previous responses from CLG, they denied ever handling my account with VACU. Now CLG states that part of the fees involved cease and desist letters sent to the creditor. So which is it CLG? Have you no knowledge of my account with VACU or did you send them cease and desist letters on my behalf, which would indeed confirm that CLG was handling this account.

Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We understand your frustration and sincerely regret that your experience has not met your expectations thus far.
After reviewing your file and our recent communications, we would like to clarify the current status of your account and the services provided.
Upon enrollment, we explained that our legal debt resolution program protects you under the law while we work toward negotiated settlements over time. Our services include creditor outreach, debt validation, and strategically timed negotiationsmainly when accounts are sold or transferred to more negotiable third parties.
Over the course of your program:
Three of your creditors successfully validated their claims, which limited our ability to dispute the debts and prompted a shift in our legal strategy to focus on negotiating settlements.
One creditor extended a 40% settlement offer, which was not pursued further at the time.
We also provided you with protection through cease-and-desist letters, which can reducebut not eliminatecollection contact, especially from original creditors or exempt entities.
Earlier this week, we spoke during a retention call, during which we discussed your interest in proceeding more aggressively with settlement outreach. In response, we attempted to coordinate a follow-up call to initiate legal engagement; however, that appointment was not completed, and a complaint was submitted instead.
Our goal remains aligned with yours: to resolve your enrolled debts efficiently and in a legally compliant manner. We remain in a position to re-engage in negotiationsespecially now that several accounts may be ripe for settlement due to the passage of time or changes in ownership.
We welcome the opportunity to reconnect and reassess your settlement strategy. Please contact our team directly so we can prioritize your case and proceed with legal outreach as needed.
Again, we regret that your experience has caused dissatisfaction and remain committed to working with you to resolve the issue.Initial Complaint

Early in 2023 Consumer Legal Group (CGL) and I entered into an agreement that it would eliminate a reported debt to ********* of approximately $75,000. *** was "taking over " this effort from Litigation Practice Group who had succeeded another organization, Doc Pros, in this undertaking. I paid CLG $6422.21 for its services. ***'s efforts were almost non-existent and consisted only of 9 "form letters" to Citi the Credit Bureaus, and organizations representing ****. When Citi finally acknowledged the existence of this issue and requested that *** provide an account number, CLG lazily responded, not with the account number but simply a duplicate of the letters previously sent thereby killing the opportunity of a dialogue. In addition CLG has not kept my file up to date and I have made numerous telephone call to CLG to no avail. The debt remains on my credit reports with a very negative effect. The agreement with CLG states: "If, at the end of the debt resolution process, Consumer Legal Group is unable to invalidate or resolve one or more of your accounts, you would likely be due a refund for the fees paid for that or of those accounts wherein ******************************************************************** was unsuccessful in its efforts."In my calls with CLG I was always encouraged to pay the contracted amount in order to be eligible for a refund, which was the reason that I fulfilled all scheduled payments. In addition I was not ever put in touch with an attorney there despite the agreement stating that would occur. Please help me in getting a result of some kind from this unapproachable firm.Business Response

I signed up with Consumer Legal Group to help with credit card debt. When I sign with them, I was told that if I was to get sued, they would represent me in court. I have kept in touch and done my part with communication sending them all documentation from any creditors. When I was served, I immediately called them and sent in all documents. I was then given a court date. Anytime that I have called them and tried to speak with someone I was told they would call back; they never did. I told them in detail why I could not go to court and that I know in a case like this, I dont have to they can be there to represent me, Like I was told in the beginning. I sent an email explaining again why I was not going. I am Autistic and have PTSD. I told them I could send documentation regarding this if need be. I did not have to do jury duty because of my disability and these people expect me to go by myself into this situation. They did NOT go and represent me as I was told and now *************** are threatening to put a lien on our house or for me to pay $150 a month. We are already paying them $319 a month. I do not have a job for obvious reasons, my husband is the sole provider. Consumer Legal Group lied and did Not do their job. I am now suffering from all the stress this is causing., when is stressing the rest of the family out. I am now having a harder time getting out and going place because of this. They were supposed to handle this.Business Response

We thank the client for expressing her concerns and regret the distress this matter has caused. We take all client experiences seriously and aim to clarify the timeline and our team's efforts in this case.
The client enrolled in our legal debt resolution program with a clear understanding of its structure, including the role of local counsel in litigation matters and the conditions under which we can assign representation to them. At the beginning of March, the client advised that she could not approve a settlement offer above $58, which significantly limited the legal team's ability to engage in meaningful settlement discussions with the opposing party.
On March 28, the client submitted her court documents.
Between April 11 and April 23, the client attempted to reach our legal team by phone and email. On April 23, our representative tried to return the client's call but was unable to connect. Unfortunately, no follow-up note was documented until May 28, which we acknowledge as a breakdown in internal communication and are reviewing accordingly.
On April 23, the client also emailed us, stating: "I have Autism and PTSD, this is something I cannot do. I have paperwork showing my diagnosis." While we take such concerns very seriously, we did not receive any formal documentation or follow-up materials needed to take further steps with the court or opposing counsel regarding potential disability-related accommodations.
On May 14, the client called to ask whether LC had appeared in court. At the time, our agent Engin attempted to obtain clarification from ****, who was unavailable. This led to further confusion and a request for a client callback.
On May 22, the client emailed again, expressing frustration over the perceived lack of support and communication. We acknowledge her concern and understand how the situation may have contributed to her stress.
On May 28, a call between us, and the client occurred, during which we informed her that a default judgment may have been entered due to a miscommunication. However, the original creditor expressed willingness to settle, and we assured the client she would relay information regarding her medical condition to the opposing counsel in hopes of pursuing a resolution.
As outlined in the Legal Services Agreement (LSA), our firm provides legal representation under defined parameters. Court representation by local counsel depends on the timely submission of documents, availability of funds, and completion of necessary formalities. While we understand the client's inability to appear due to her condition, the legal counsel was not confirmed in time for the court date, resulting from procedural delays and incomplete follow-through related to both communication and funding.
We empathize with the client's medical and financial hardship and remain committed to working toward a resolution. Following an internal review by our compliance and legal teams, we extended a goodwill refund, which the client accepted. This refund was offered as a resolution based on the unique circumstances of her case, the funds should be received within 510 business days.
To further assist, We submitted a hardship request on her behalf and coordinated a direct legal call from our attorney to provide additional support and explore possible solutions moving forward.
While we recognize that certain aspects of communication could have been improved, our team made documented efforts to engage the client throughout. We remain committed to finding a constructive path forward and will continue to assess how we can best support her within the scope of our program.Initial Complaint

I was contacted by a man over the phone. Told me this was a debt consolidation. Since it was less money a month than the company I was with I switched. Months later I was getting approached at my door with court dates for credit cards that were not being paid. I contacted *** and was told they would represent me in court and I had no need to worry. Still kept getting letters from credit cards that I wasnt paying. I called *** to ask what was happening with my account and I was informed this was NOT a debt consolidation company but that they would fight my bills and try to get rid of them. I was furious, I never intended to Not pay my bills. I just couldnt keep up so I thought debt consolidation was perfect. Well at this point I felt like I had already paid CLG so much money (that I thought was supposed to go on my bills) that I had no choice but to stay with them. Now here I am with 1 payment left on my contract and still have all of my bills. They managed to make arrangements with 2 of the companies (which if I had known this was all they were doing I could have done myself) 2 more companies contacted me personally to make arrangements. I am out all of the money I paid to them and still owe all of this money to by credit cards. To me this is nothing but a scam to make money off of desperate people looking for help.Business Response

We acknowledge your complaint and take your concerns seriously. At Consumer Legal Group (CLG), we are committed to providing transparent and diligent legal services. We regret that your experience has not met your expectations and want to address your concerns directly.
Our records show that during the initial consultation, our representative clearly explained that *** is not a debt consolidation company but a legal services firm focused on negotiating and litigating debt-related issues. We understand that you initially perceived our services as debt consolidation, and we apologize if this led to any confusion.
Upon enrollment, we provided a welcome call and reviewed the signed agreement, which outlines the scope of our services. During this call, we emphasized that CLGs role is to negotiate on your behalf with creditors and, where applicable, provide legal representation to mitigate debt-related legal consequences. We did not represent that we would directly pay your creditors or consolidate your debts into one monthly payment.
We understand your frustration regarding the court summons you received. Upon receiving notification of the legal actions taken against you, CLG took appropriate steps to represent your interests. We maintained communication with your creditors and opposing counsel and negotiated arrangements with two of your creditors, which reduced your potential legal exposure. Additionally, we facilitated negotiations on your behalf, resulting in creditor agreements aimed at reducing the financial burden.
However, we acknowledge that you felt our assistance did not meet your expectations. On May 7, 2025, we spoke with you to address your concerns as outlined in your BBB complaint. During this conversation, we discussed the terms of your signed agreement and clarified that **** primary objective is to resolve debt disputes rather than consolidate payments. We also addressed your concerns regarding fees and provided a refund offer, which was approved by management and includes waiving your final payment.
To further address your concerns, we have arranged for you to have direct contact with an attorney from our team, which will occur today. We are committed to maintaining open communication and working together to achieve a successful outcome. We value your continued partnership and will make every effort to address your remaining questions and provide the support you need.
We are excited that you have chosen to stay with the program, and we look forward to continuing our partnership to work towards a successful resolution. Our team is committed to maintaining open communication and providing the support you need throughout the process.Initial Complaint

I am writing to formally file a complaint against Consumer Protection Legal Group ***** for failure to provide the services promised, resulting in significant harm to my credit score, legal standing, and overall financial well-being. Prior to enrolling in **** services, my credit score was over 650 and considered to be in fair standing. I entered into an agreement with *** based on their assurances that their legal team would work to resolve my debts by challenging the legitimacy and collectibility of those debts. I was explicitly told: "Our goal is to resolve your debts. A resolved debt is not legally collectible, meaning you no longer owe it once it gets resolved. The documentation we prepare on your behalf obliges debt creditors and collectors to prove that the debt belongs to you and they have the required information and the authority to collect the debt."Unfortunately, *** did not resolve any of my debts. I received no meaningful legal action or progress. During my time as a client, my credit score dropped to below 450, and I am now being sued by creditors. I am facing a potential judgment and wage garnishment, circumstances that I explicitly sought to avoid by enrolling in **** services. Despite my payments to *** and repeated attempts to contact their support team, I received minimal communication, zero resolutions, and no evidence of effective representation or advocacy. This experience has caused me tremendous stress and mental anguish. I now find myself in a significantly worse financial position than when I began. The services that *** promised and that I paid for were never rendered in good faith or with professional diligence.I am formally requesting: A full refund of the fees I paid to **** A written explanation for the lack of progress or legal support on my case, Immediate removal of any ongoing representation or power of attorney that *** may have filed on my behalfBusiness Response

We take client feedback seriously and are committed to addressing your concerns thoroughly.
First and foremost, we sincerely apologize for any stress and frustration you have experienced. We understand how important financial stability is, and we deeply regret that you feel our services did not meet your expectations.
Upon reviewing your file, we have confirmed that we have been actively attempting to reach you for several days to discuss your case and provide updates. Despite our efforts, we have not been able to make contact. We understand the urgency of your situation and are committed to resolving your concerns promptly.
In recent weeks, we took significant steps to address your debts by reopening disputes with various collection agencies after different collectors purchased some of your debts.
Specifically, we have resumed dispute efforts with your *************** account and *************** as part of our ongoing commitment to advocate on your behalf.
As a positive outcome from our recent efforts, we are pleased to inform you that your credit score has increased by 20 points. We are committed to continuing to work on your case and to achieve the best possible outcome given the current circumstances.
We understand that your primary concerns include the perceived lack of progress, the drop in your credit score, and the ongoing legal actions taken by creditors. While our goal is always to resolve debts through legal challenges and negotiations, the outcome can vary based on creditor cooperation and the validity of the debt.
As part of our commitment to transparency and accountability, we are prepared to provide a detailed written explanation regarding the steps taken on your behalf, the current status of your cases, and the challenges encountered.
We encourage you to contact us directly as soon as possible so that we can address your concerns and provide any necessary documentation. We want to work collaboratively to resolve any outstanding issues and offer solutions that may help improve your financial situation.
Again, we apologize for the difficulties you have experienced and thank you for your continued patience as we work toward a resolution. Your satisfaction is important to us, and we are committed to helping you move forward.Customer Answer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:I would like to formally state that I have not received any prior messages or correspondence from your organization indicating any attempt to contact me regarding this matter. The response I received is disappointing and appears to confirm that outreach is only made when a formal complaint is filed, rather than as part of proactive client service.
My credit report clearly reflects that the creditors I submitted to your firm for collection assistance have all been reported negatively, resulting in a significant and damaging impact on my credit. Additionally, I have recently received a letter from a law firm concerning one of the accounts I entrusted to your organization for resolution.
Due to what I consider to be negligence and lack of follow-through on your part, I am now having to independently negotiate with these creditors to settle my debts. I am extremely dissatisfied with the services providedor lack thereofand the overall communication throughout this process.
As a result, I am formally requesting a full reimbursement of all payments I made to your organization in good faith, as I did not receive the professional assistance that was promised and expected.

We respectfully submit the following in response to the complainant’s statements, to clarify the record and address the concerns raised.
While the complainant alleges a lack of communication, our records document multiple outreach attempts beginning with a welcome call on 5/26/23, and continuing on 5/30/23, 6/29/23, 6/30/23, and 8/30/23, when the client completed the welcome process and her 30- and 60-day follow-ups with our representative, Jacob R. We conducted an additional 90-day follow-up on 9/8/23. On 12/8/23, the client stated that she could not answer phone calls and did not want voicemails, which significantly limited our ability to facilitate consistent communication and legal consultation. Despite these limitations, we continued to monitor her accounts and advance her file.
On 6/17/24, the client contacted us regarding a court summons. Our team escalated the matter to our legal department, and by 7/1/24, local counsel had been appointed on her behalf. On 8/7/24, the client contacted us regarding billing and a BBB complaint, which our escalations team addressed through 8/14/24, at which point the client acknowledged that her concerns had been resolved. We also made additional outreach attempts on 5/8/25 and 5/9/25 regarding this complaint but did not receive a response.
We firmly reject the claim that the legal or credit-related risks were not disclosed. These issues are clearly outlined in the signed legal agreement, which specifies that debt negotiation does not prevent creditors from pursuing continued action during the process. Moreover, we issued cease and desist letters and letters of representation dated June 21, 2023, to creditors including National Credit Adjusters, First Premier Bank, Credit One, Synchrony Bank, Merrick Bank, and Credit Systems International.
For reference, we have uploaded select copies of these letters to this response, and we currently have 25 additional supporting documents on file that we can send directly to the client upon request.
The assertion that we only responded after the BBB complaint is contradicted by documented case activity and our ongoing efforts to support the client, despite the communication limitations she imposed. We acted within the scope of the legal agreement and made every reasonable effort to fulfill our professional obligations.
We are prepared to provide a full timeline of actions taken, along with copies of call logs and outreach records. We welcome continued correspondence in writing through the BBB platform or email to ensure clear, documented communication moving forward.Customer Answer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:Thank you for your detailed response. However, I must respectfully disagree with the characterization of events as presented.
While CPL outlines multiple outreach attempts and claims of resolution, I maintain that my concerns remain unresolved—particularly regarding the lack of timely and effective legal support, unresolved billing issues, and ongoing communication challenges. While there may have been contact on various dates, it is misleading to suggest these efforts resulted in meaningful progress or resolution. In fact, the actual result was a negative impact to my credit, which I am now left to correct. Your organization made a commitment to assist in improving my credit score, not contributing to its decline from Fair to Poor.
Notably:
I did not receive substantive legal support in a timely manner, particularly regarding the court summons dated 6/17/24.
The escalation and assignment of local counsel only occurred after I personally raised the issue—it was not handled proactively.
My ongoing concerns regarding billing and service quality were not resolved to my satisfaction, despite multiple communications, including those in August 2024 and again in May 2025.
CPL’s own records show that communication became limited only after months of perceived inaction. This was a direct result of my growing frustration with repeated outreach that lacked both clarity and direction.
It is noted that CPL has additional documents on file (all dated June 21, 2023). However, I have not received these materials, nor do I believe they demonstrate fulfillment of the company’s obligations under the legal agreement. I again request that all relevant documentation—including call logs, case notes, letters sent, and all internal correspondence—be provided directly to me for independent review.
I appreciate the willingness to continue correspondence and request that all future communication be conducted in writing. I remain committed to seeking a resolution that reflects both accountability and the delivery of the services that were originally promised.Sincerely,
******* *****

On the 17th of July I engaged services with Consumer Legal Group. I paid amount of ******** $@ 18 months no communication from CLG to the legal counsel that is suing me. today is 4/25/25. On 4/1/25 I got served summons from creditor and legal counsel that I was being sued. I reached out various times to CLG for this matter I faxed them the summons on 4/10/25. I should have never gotten served the summons, thinking that I was properly being represented. The next days I called them my concerns and no correct legal representation was observed. I spoke with Legal council in my location and told them I wasn't properly represented, they told me why don't I get my refund? So I started to call CLG various times that I want My REFUND and they kept giving me run arounds and proposed only ****** would be refunded. I told them hence no proper representation on my behalf to put me in this situation that I want my REFUND Immediately. So Called today 4/25/25 the legal counsel filing the judgement against me, that it went against my favor for not returning the summons in due time. Which Consumer Legal Group (CLG) did absolutely nothing to resolve this matter. I honestly should have done my research before engaging with these Fraudulent Crooks. Today I saw the BAD Reviews crooked CLG has on them. Folks do your research trust Legal Counsel closer to your location. I was like they are in NY city and I am in ************. hope this helps and I get my complete refund granted to me ********* sincerely M F RBusiness Response

We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns regarding your engagement with Consumer Legal Group (CLG). We take all client feedback seriously and aim to clearly explain the services rendered and the circumstances surrounding your cancellation and refund request.
Upon thorough review of your file, we would like to clarify the following:
You finalized your cancellation with our Refund Team on April 8, 2024. *** formally ceased all legal representation on your behalf at that time, as promised. Once representation is terminated, CLG is no longer authorized or obligated to act on any matters related to your debts, including reviewing or responding to documents received after cancellation.
Summons **************Cancellation: On April 10, 2024, two days after your cancellation was completed, you forwarded a summons to our office. As your representation had already been terminated, CLG was unable to intervene or provide legal assistance regarding this summons. While we understand your intent in sending the documentation, we must emphasize that once services are canceled, our ability to act ceases immediately in accordance with legal and ethical obligations.
Scope of Representation and Program Understanding:
At the time of your Welcome Call on July 19, 2023, you verified your understanding of the program, including the scope of CLG's services. Specifically, it was explained and acknowledged that:
CLG provides legal representation to assist in disputing and negotiating enrolled debts.
CLG does not directly pay creditors or guarantee avoidance of legal action, especially on accounts not enrolled.
Payments made into the program are allocated toward attorney fees for representation, not creditor settlements or savings toward debt payoff.
Summons About Non-Enrolled Accounts:
The summons you referenced included two separate accounts with First ************************* (***). Our records confirm that only one account ending in **** was enrolled in ***'s program. The second account, ending in 0488 with a balance of $14,034.00, was never enrolled. *** had no authority or obligation to act on this account. Despite our team's efforts to clarify this distinction, you expressed continued frustration, perceiving this as a failure of service.
Following your request for a full refund, our team thoroughly reviewed your account. While *** rendered services according to the terms of your agreement, we nonetheless emailed you a comprehensive breakdown of your refund request detailing the services provided, fees incurred, and the outcome of your cancellation. This was sent to ensure full transparency and address your concerns in detail.
While we genuinely wish we could have continued assisting you, you decided to end representation on April 8, 2024. Any subsequent issues arising after this date fall outside the scope of our responsibility.
CLG remains committed to transparency and ethical service delivery.
We regret that your experience did not meet your expectations and wish you the best in resolving your outstanding debts.Customer Answer

I engaged CLG in order to help with my credit card debt and to help stop garnishments from collectors. I was told this is what *** does and they could help. In 10 months of paying CLG monthly over $250/mo I have seen no change in my credit and have not heard from them. My last 4 checks have been garnished over $3000 in total and they have gone completely silent after I reached out demanding to know what is happening on my behalf. I've received email after email stating that someone from their "legal team" would be in contact with me. This was 23 days ago at this point. I will be terminating my contract with *** as they have put my in far worse financial situation since I have paid them to "help" me.Business Response

Consumer legal group salesman made promise to erase my debt. Talked about how I was lucky they could reduce the debt and pay back the rest with my payments. I sent them over $250 a month to do this. Then they contacted me later saying they were just representing me and not going to take care of the debt. I requested a refund for their fraudulent sales tactics and not doing what the salesman promised. I then cancelled the amount coming out of my account.Business Response

Thank you for the opportunity to respond.
After reviewing the clients file, Consumer Legal Group, P.C. (CLG) denies any claims of misrepresentation or fraudulent conduct. The client enrolled in our legal services program after speaking with an affiliate partner. Immediately following that call, the client completed a Welcome Call with a *** representative and signed a Service Agreementboth of which clearly outlined the scope of our services.
*** is not a debt settlement company and does not make payments to creditors. Our services involve the legal review and potential dispute of unsecured debts. These terms were explicitly explained during the Welcome Call and in the signed agreement, which also states that *** does not guarantee specific outcomes, such as full debt forgiveness or account removal.
We understand that the complainant may have received preliminary information from a third-party affiliate prior to enrollment. While we cannot speak to the exact language used by the affiliate, *** does not condone any misrepresentation of our legal services. That said, any misunderstanding should have been clarified by the disclosures provided during the Welcome Call and the written Service Agreementboth of which clearly explain the nature of our services.
Furthermore, the client was notified in writing of the distinction between the affiliates marketing role and CLGs legal representation at the outset of the program. At no point did *** falsely claim to erase debt or settle specific accounts without a full legal review.
As previously communicated, a refund is not warranted, as services were provided in accordance with the agreement. We remain committed to transparency and are happy to provide additional documentation upon request.
