I visited the *** Langone ************* on Demand (*********) on 1/31/25 for a simple procedure to remove a suture from my hand. My insurance (*****) had made clear that I need to go to a "walk in clinic or primary care provider" and NOT an urgent care facility to have this done for coverage purposes. As seen on the *** website, they state "Care on Demand providers at *** Langone offer prompt, top-quality primary care to adults who do not already have a primary care physician. We see patients on a walk-in basisno appointment needed." and also state "Providers at Care on Demand treat a variety of common symptoms and conditions, from aches and pains to the flu, that do not require urgent or emergency care services." These along with other parts of their website make it very clear they are a primary care/walk in clinic and NOT urgent care. I received my bill from the clinic ($1000) and it was denied by insurance because the coding was done as urgent care (and not a clinic). After numerous calls with insurance, NYU Langone Care on Demand, and *** ****************** they will not recode/resubmit the invoice as 'walk in clinic" leaving me to pay the full $1000. No where on their website or at the clinic did they disclose that this is urgent care and their website/marketing is false advertising. At the very least I would like this invoice recoded as walk in clinic so I can submit to insurance to pay and *** should update their marketing and website about this facility.
