On Jan. 25, 2019, I entered into a contract with New Reader Media dba New Reader Media to market my book. For these services, I deposited the sum of $4,167 with New Media, per terms of the contract. After signing the agreement and paying New Media the $4,167, they did not perform obligations in the contract and also lost materials for the book. New Reader did not market the book and communication was severely lacking. The contract specified that I receive a 50% return on my return on my monies paid. I requested my monies be returned and was informed by New Reader Media that I could give them one year to perform the terms of the contract. If they did not perform, I was told I would receive 75% of my monies back. It is now past the year of that promise and New Media has not performed its obligations as stated in the contract. I have repeatedly requested 75% of my monies be returned from New Media (total of $3,125.25) and I receive no response from New Media.

Since June 2021, ***********************, an agent of NRM, has actively contacted me about the promotion of my book"World's End and the Sea Angle". The promotion includes (1) getting the book (originally published by ********) acquired by Penguin Random House (2) having the book adapted into a screenplay and turned into a movie by a movie company (3) launching marketing campaigns to enhance the sales of the book online and in bookstores. For the first 2 items *********************** promised to be 100% successful. For the 3rd item ***** said the sales would be booming.I was charged a total of $62,200.00, in 8 transactions.Up to now none of the three promised promotions has been realized. On June 15, 2022 I received a gmail from ****************** of ******* that stated that my book "World's End" had been chosen as its movie project to be produced in September this year. The gmail indicates that I could get $1.5 million for the film right, at the same time I should pay $18,000.00 processing fee. *********************** asked me to pay this amount to NRM which I did.I sent emails to ****************** (who sent the gmail to me) to verify this. I got some brief confirmation but I noticed that my emails to ****** of ******* and his answering emails were sent to *************************** email box at the same time. I further verified the project by sending an email to *************************, CEO of *******. He immediately replied my email, saying, "Since ****** runs HR, seems scammers are busy." Obviously the current "movie project" with ******* is a scam for the $18,000.00 payment to NRM only. And the June 15 gmail from ******* was coined by ***** himself. As for the acquisition of my book by PRH, there was a lady called *********************** who claimed herself to be with PRH but was denied by PRH as one of its staff members. She talked with me a couple of times but I could not get in touch with her ever since. She seemed to be controlled by *****, for she appeared whenever ***** needed her help in getting my money.

New Reader Magazine contacted my mother on the telephone and offered to publicize her self-published book. A young man named *************************, ********************* Associate, talked my mother up on the phone continually and convinced her to send the company $7500 with three separate credit cards and sign a contract that they would sell her book for her. I contacted ****************** immediately following the incident and told him that my mother has dementia and I would like the monies returned. He said that instead they would send a new contract for us to sign saying she would get the full funds returned in 2 years (instead of the agreed upon half of the funds) if the book had not sold. I refused to sign the contract. No monies have been returned and no contact made again until May of this year. I want her monies returned to her for her medical care and feel that this company is not only a scam but takes advantage of older people.

    Better Business Bureau:

At this time, I have not been contacted by New Reader Media regarding complaint ID ********. Not only did I contact the Better Business Bureau, but I emailed the business directly and sent a letter by US Mail regarding this matter.  I have even offered to be satisfied with 75% of the funds as the contract specified, if the customer was not satisfied within the production period.  I have yet to have any response through any of the available channels--email. phone, or post.

    Sincerely,

    *******************
