I am writing to express my concern and frustration regarding the current state of my solar system installed by YSG Solar. For the past two months, my solar system has been non-operational, and despite numerous attempts to contact YSG Solar for support, I have been unable to reach them. This prolonged downtime has not only resulted in a significant inconvenience but has also brought to light a concerning issue. In desperation, I contacted a licensed solar company to assess the situation. Their findings indicate that the wiring in my solar system is incorrect and does not adhere to industry codes. This raises serious concerns about the installation quality and safety of the system.Given the urgency of the matter, I implore you to take immediate action to rectify this situation. I understand that issues may arise, but the lack of responsiveness and the potential safety implications of an incorrectly wired solar system are of utmost concern.I kindly request your prompt attention to this matter and appreciate your assistance in facilitating a resolution. If necessary, I am open to exploring alternative avenues to address and rectify the issues with my solar system.

BBB:I have been a YSG customer for 3+ years. For the past several months, I have been receiving my electric bills well above the normal amount with my solar panels working and noticed that all my stored energy I put back into the grid had been depleted. ******, this means my solar panels require maintenance. I have made a lot of attempts to contact YSG via phone and email. I even tried contacted the salesperson only for them to be nonresponsive. I then reached out to ***************** whom I have my solar loan with. They advised me that they will attempt to reach out to YSG. After several attempts themselves, ******* was unsuccessful as well and recommend I reach out to another company who provides servicing. I would then have to pay for the servicing fee and anything additional out of pocket which is a NO. Under my contract with YSG, I am well within warranty they provided. I would like BBB to step in and resolve this dispute by servicing my solar panels, provide a better way to get in contact, have another solar company handle my contract and pay for all of the additional cost I paid for on my electric bills. Thank you,

      Dear *******,
Thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention. We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and frustration you've experienced regarding your solar panels and communication with our team.
We understand your concerns about the increased electricity bills and depleted stored energy, and we appreciate you reaching out to ***************** and the BBB in an attempt to resolve this issue.
Since you've contacted us directly, we would like to work with you to find a solution as quickly as possible. Here's what we can offer:

Improved Communication: We understand the frustration with unresponsive communication. We have implemented changes to ensure timely responses to your inquiries and concerns. You can reach us directly at *******************************

At YSG, we specialize solely in solar panel installation. While we take pride in our quality installations, ongoing maintenance and service needs fall under the purview of Sungage Financials' responsibility. While YSG specializes solely in installation, warranties for the actual equipment typically come directly from the manufacturers and can extend up to 25 years.

We deeply apologize for any confusion or frustration caused by this distinction.

      Sincerely,
      YSG Solar

      Customer Answer

      Date: 02/08/2024

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

YSGs effort to improve communication by contacting them directly at ******************************* is misleading as myself and every other customer have tried reaching out to them through that email address just for them to ignore. Are they saying they will make a special exception just for my inquiries? What about anyone else's or how about responding to all inquiries as normal practice? If I did not reach out to BBB to step in, YSG would have still continued their poor service and be unresponsive.

Per my solar panels issue, it could very well be an installation problem that is causing them to not work. Per my contract, which YSG should have a copy, I have a 5 year warranty and I would YSG to arrange for someone to come out to my home and check it out.

In regards to maintenance and servicing, Sungage Financials advised that solar customer's ********************** company's (YSG) should be providing these type of services as well as others and that Sungage isn't responsible, only for loans. I also agree that maintenance should be provided by YSG and I shouldn't have to pay out of pocket  to have another solar company fix my problem. I also noticed, YSG did not address any type of compensation regarding any of my expenses such as increased electric bills, fees for having my solar system maintained, etc...

      As a comment:

If YSG solely is an installation type of company, than why would anyone want their business as every other solar company offers soo much more!

Also, when my solar issues began midway in 2023 and YSG was not responding, I looked them up on BBB's website to find they were not on there. Now that they are on BBB and their unhappy customers realize that they are, the complaints will come pouring in.

In order for the BBB to appropriately process your response, you MUST answer the question above.

      Good Afternoon -

The installation services are provided under the warranty of the major equipment manufacturers. The process does require you to first reach out to the manufacturer to troubleshoot the concern. The warranties are for a 25-year duration, and they cover labor for property owners such as yourself.

I am trying to sell my home and the Title Search has determined that YSG Solar never closed out a Permit opened in 2013 that is now preventing me from closing on my house. I have reached out to ***** who asked me to send my address to her via email and she will pass it along. My *********** Attorney and I have been sending multiple emails since last week and I have not received a single response or acknowledgement in addition to the phone calls I have made on my personal cell and work phone. Dear ******,

We understand that you are having difficulty closing on your home due to a permit closure that was not completed in 2013.

We want to assure you that we are committed to helping you resolve this issue as quickly as possible. We have investigated the matter and found that the permit closure is the responsibility of the property owner, not the solar installer. However, we are happy to provide you with any records or files from the 2013 project that you may need to facilitate the closure with the local town.

In the meantime, we recommend that you contact your real estate attorney to discuss your options for completing the permit closure.

Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue.

      Sincerely,

However, as per the sales and service agreement that was executed in 2013, the responsibility for closing out permits related to the homeowner's personal home lies with the homeowner. This is also the first time that ************** has brought this request to our attention in the last 10 years. We understand that ************** is frustrated, but we believe that the complaint is unfounded. YSG installed my solar in December of 2014. On March 9, 2015 the ******************** found there was an issue with the installation. So the project was not approved (closed out) by the ********************.Without that I cannot receive my property tax exemption.Since January of 2020 I have reached out to YSG with over 100 e-mails (saved in a separate folder) and, a few phone calls.During the past 3 years and 8 months I was given numerous assurances that it would be approved before March 15th each year. Buildings ***** requires it to be completed by that date for it to take effect on the July property tax statement. Each year Im given excuses. At one point I was told that paperwork was filed with the ********************.I called buildings and they told me that no paperwork was filed!Eventually paperwork was filed and a rep from YSG came to my premise and went up on the roof.Over time I did some digging on the ******************** website and was able to figure out that the problem was in the sub panel (not the roof). I informed YSG of this ( why they didnt know is beyond me) and they replied thats really great to hear. I was also informed that they need to find a electrician and asked if I have any local contacts. So I hired an electrician out of my own pocket. When I informed YSG of this they replied Thats great news! We are working on obtaining a tracking number from ********************.I was told in an email back in January that a tracking number was applied for.Upon more investigation on my part it should only take 2-3 days to obtain one and that an expediter can get one on the spot. Majority of the time I am the one that initiates contact, even though the emails I get from them Indicates that they will update me once they have more information.Very, very, rare that YSG reaches out to me.At this point YSG should be able to set up a re-inspection with ********************* ASAP and have a representative from YSG on scene during it.

      Business Response

      Dear Better business bureau

I would like to express our sincere apologies for the inconvenience you have experienced in the process of obtaining your property tax exemption after the installation of your solar system in December 2014. Your satisfaction is of utmost importance to us, and we deeply regret any frustration this situation has caused. We have carefully reviewed your complaint and would like to provide you with a comprehensive update on the situation. It is important to note that our commitment to resolving this matter has remained unwavering, and we genuinely appreciate your patience throughout this challenging process.

The primary issue in your case stemmed from challenges we faced with a third-party expeditor who was responsible for handling the necessary paperwork and approvals from the ********************* Unfortunately, this expeditor faced unforeseen difficulties and went on hiatus, causing significant delays in obtaining the necessary permits and approvals.
Our team at YSG recognizes the critical importance of ensuring that your solar project receives the proper approvals from the ******************** in a timely manner to enable you to benefit from the property tax exemption.

We are pleased to inform you that due to the delay in obtaining the approvals, your abatement under the Inflation Reduction Act has increased. This will result in more significant savings for you once the property tax exemption is granted. As part of our commitment to resolving this matter promptly, we will arrange for a re-inspection with the ******************** as soon as the necessary work is completed.

Once again, we apologize for any frustration this situation has caused you, and we thank you for your patience.

A solar company that has a problem with an expeditor should not be having a customer suffer the consequences for more then 8 years (installed 2014).

I had a company, YSG Solar, install solar panels about 3 years ago and now have leaks in my roof coming from under the panels. I have been trying to contact the company via phone and email over the past 3 to 4 weeks and they havent responded. I need to have the panels removed so that I can have the leaks repaired.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The company did finally responded to my numerous attempts to contact them over 3 to 4 months but did not offer any help. The person who contacted me, who told me his name was *******, told hed have to speak with his manager and he would get back to me. This was 2 weeks ago. I have attempted to contact the company numerous times after that and it seems that they arent responding, the phone just disconnects. Other numbers I have for the company are now not in service. I would like someone from the company to contact me immediately as the problem still exists.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

A follow up response was never received from the company. They never promptly assessed the situation as stated in their response.

After months of trying to contact the company and leaving numerous messages and emails, I finally received a call from a ******* on July 11th. I explained the issue I was having and he stated that he had to discuss the matter with his supervisor and would get back to me. Today is August 1st and I havent received a call back as of yet. *** tried calling the company numerous times since speaking to ******* on July 11th but it seemed the contact numbers I have are not in service any longer. Even the contact number on their website doesnt work, it just disconnects. Emails I leave with the company are not responded to.

At no time has anyone from the company taken the initiative to provide me with any contractors to assist with the issue.

      In YSGs response they state:

We communicated the importance of addressing the leak issue before proceeding with the reinstallation, as it would ensure the long-term performance and reliability of the solar system. Our intent was to offer **************** a comprehensive solution, with the best interests of his property and solar investment in mind.

None of this is true as they havent called me back and I cant get in touch with them. No comprehensive solution was ever discussed.

The company can contact me at ************ or **************** since I am unable to contact them directly.

*** installed solar panels in 10/2021. It is still not connected. There finally sent an electrician to upgraded my electric panels in dec 2022. Since then no one came to connect the solar system to the new panels and organize the inspection to connect to grid. In the meantime I've been getting bills from the loan ysg organized from "service finance company". In May 2023 I submitted a complaint with sfc. *** sent me an email that they received the complaint. They have made no move to fix the issue.I would like ysg to connect the wires and have it operational. Also to reimburse me for the interest payments of the loan they organized for me to pay and for the electric bills I've been paying for the past year because they haven't done what they agreed to do.

1 this system is not ready for inspection because the wire still needs to be connected. It should be a quick job to connect but it needs to be done before inspection.

2 I have been told many times it will be taken care of. I'll belive it when it actually happens. Every month cost me on electric bills and financing interest/bills for something not yet useful. If not done by end of June I'll look into small claims court.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

This promise of contacting me does not make my solar work or attach the wires hanging out of my walls. I have not received any direct contact as to when the project will be completed.

Since i have filed this complaint the only correspondence that the company has sent me is the vague replies here on bbb. there has been no steps forward to resolve my ploblem.

Already here in previous messages on this bbb complaint  the company claimed they will contact me, send a tech to finish the installation, and schedule an inspection from coned to ok it to be connected to the grid. non of these things have happened yet.

looking forward to having this resolved. thank you
