Booksrun stole my book. Shipped books to them soft and hard cover. They said the book worth the most money was unacceptable. This is a hardcover text book my Wife didn't even use for her class! Unethical company to pull this and then not return the book back to me. Beware selling books to them.BooksRun

Greetings,We would like to express our gratitude once again for reporting this issue to us. It helps to know the kinds of difficulties our customers have so we can work toward improvements. We are sorry to hear that you had a negative experience when dealing with our services.BooksRun is eager to provide high quality service to the customers, and we have no interest in deceiving or holding the payment from clients. However, we stick to our transparent ******************* which all customers agree to be bound by once placing the order. We do care about the quality of the books we sell and impose regulations regarding the acceptance of the books. Such regulations are presented in our acceptance criteria as well as Buyback Condition Guide. Price quotes may be adjusted in case the item's condition is different from quoted, which is exactly the matter with your buyback orders.Upon processing it appears that the item Principal, The: Creative Leadership for Excellence in Schools, Updated Edition (******* Educational Leadership) (ISBN: ************* ) had its quote adjusted automatically from $ ***** to $0.00 because we received the book with the signs of heavy wear that did not correspond to Used Very Good condition initially quoted and turned the book into unusable. Please try to look at the situation from our perspective. Unfortunately, we do not pay initial quotes for the textbooks that are received with signs of heavy wear or water damage, as it is stated in our BooksRun policy that the customers agree to cooperate within. Moreover, we do not have any opportunity to check and know for sure what exactly happened with the book in the process of shipping, however, it was delivered with the torn binder. Your buyback order was processed in accordance with the existing ******************* which implies that books with a condition that does not correspond to the one initially stated, get their quotes adjusted. According to our ******************* items with heavy wear in the order may have their quote adjusted or be not eligible for buyback at all. Your order was placed "On Hold" for 7 days on 07/19/2023 so that you could either accept the quotes or decline them and have the items shipped back to your address. The notifications regarding the condition of the books received and the opened disputes were sent to your email address. However, since no decision was made, the adjustment was accepted automatically by our system and the order was processed on 07/28/2023. We also understand how frustrating it may be to pay for shipping of the item back, but please try to understand our position on this matter. We provide prepaid labels for all our buyback orders and lose a significant amount on shipping and handling. The return shipping fee of $8.95 for the first book and $3.99 for each item thereafter includes: 1) shipping from customer's address to our processing facility; 2) shipping from the processing facility to the customer's address; 3) handling; 4) packaging. We hope this information gives you the understanding of our policy on returns. Please be kindly advised that the fact that you contacted us via email does not mean you may disregard the order dispute and still expect the items to be returned to you, as the action and response are to be stated there from your side. Contacting us via any other means other than directly in your order dispute does not confirm any of your actions in the order dispute itself, in such cases you are obliged to log in and accept or deny (i.e. request a return) the adjustments made by the system, because if there is no response within the provided 7 day timeframe, the system automatically views it as your acceptance of the dispute adjustments. We informed you of our policy regarding the return, however, the automatic system did not see that, given that there was no decision made there from your side, thus the system decided that you accepted the adjustments and the order was processed automatically.Furthermore, no action could be taken when you contacted us via email as at that moment the order had already been reprocessed and check #****** had already been sent to your address. Please be kindly advised that you agreed to be bound by our ****************** upon the order placement, therefore by taking into account our existing policy, the item within the order in question is non-returnable and is to be disposed of at our own discretion.Once again, we are grateful that you brought this matter to our attention. Please accept our deepest apologies for any inconvenience caused since we did not intentionally want to make the situation worse, but only to make it resolved in the best way.Thank you for doing business with us and being our valued customer. We hope that the next time you happen to use our services, you will get a flawless and satisfying experience. As an experienced and established participant at the textbooks market, we are eager to provide good service to our customers, as we strive to sustain our earned reputation among other established buyback companies, and we continue to work hard on keeping our policy as transparent as possible. Thank you for your understanding Respectfully,BooksRun TeamThomas D.

This is an unacceptable response. This book was a hardcover book we ordered from Books Run on 12/28/2022 in Used-Very Good condition. Order #*******. The book ended up never being used in my Wifes course and therefore was in the exact same condition we purchased from you. If you do not make this right, you have forever lost a customer and I will be sure to share this information with any and all students my Wife teaches and associates with.Review fromLauren L

I sent four of my books in excellent condition. Three out of four textbooks had zero writing/underlining/highlighting. I packed the books tightly and wrapped them multiple times so that they wouldn't slide around. I take extremely good care of my books, but somehow, the book that BooksRun was going to give me the most for, has some kind of liquid damage to it. They didn't notify me about this--I happened to look at my account the last day that you could communicate with them about whether to accept the reduced rate. I'm never using this company again, and I'm really upset that they are only willing to pay me $75 for books that were sent to them in excellent condition that cost me hundreds of dollars.BooksRun

Greetings, Thank you for expressing your concerns regarding the matter in question. We do apprehend how frustrating the situation can beand we are really sorry to hear that you had a negative experience when dealing with our services. Please, allow us to explain the issue with your order. Your buyback order was processed in accordance with the existing ******************* which implies that books with a condition that does not correspond to the one initially stated, get their quotes adjusted. According to our ******************* items with heavy wear in the order may have their quote adjusted or be not eligible for buyback at all. Your order was placed "On Hold" for 7 days so that you could either accept the quotes or decline them and have the items shipped back to your address. The notifications regarding the condition of the books received and the opened disputes were sent to your email address. However, since no decision was made, the adjustment was accepted automatically by our system and the order was processed on 08/08/2023. It appeared that the book was received with a liquid stain of unknown origin, the images of the damaged were also provided. For these reasons, we also strongly recommend wrapping the contents of the package in plastic to prevent damage during shipping. Our processing department carefully inspects each and every item, and we always calculate the price of the items received with any kind of damage for all our buyback orders. As a rule, we do not purchase items that have any water stains and curled pages, because such items are not eligible for buyback program as the price applicable for them is too low and they are not desirable by wholesalers and individual buyers. In some cases, the water damage itself may be minor, but even such signs of it significantly affect the final price of the book, especially considering the fact that the book is used and not actually brand new (an unopened item in its original packaging). We are always happy to assist customers with any arising issues in a timely manner and have no interest in deceiving or holding the payment from clients. We strive to sustain our earned reputation among other established buyback companies, and we continue to work hard on keeping our policy as transparent as possible. Thank you for your understanding. 1 starI have been waiting 4 weeks for the check for buyback books. No one is answering the phone. In addition, I was supposed to have a refund for a book that was returned on time, but I was still charged the purchase price! I was finally contacted by support and told a refund was approved and still nothing. No one has contacted me regarding the 10 books I sold back that were received by BooksRun. Stay away! They used to be great, but now its a nightmare.Review fromJennifer B

1 starThey can steal any book they want and claim it is a misprint. It is in the agreement but they stole the most expensive book we sent (spent over $100 on the original) and refused to send it back. They claim it is a misprint but it matched all of my classmate's books and it was a really nice, brand new book when I purchased with online publisher codes that worked included with the book. They are willing to pay for books under $5 but my $25 offer one was the one that was magically a "misprint" and they refuse to send the book back for us to verify. They claim it is in the agreement. Super shady company. I will never use again though I have 50 textbooks to now offload to an honest company.Review fromCourtney C

1 starThis place is a complete scam. I sent in two books in great condition and they cut the price for both by over 50% because I had highlighted a sentence on one page. The way they force you into accepting is that they will make you pay shipping if you dont accept their adjusted prices (which dont even fall in line with their guidelines). Never sell your books here its a complete scam and they should be investigated.Review fromFrancis M

1 starThey went straight to the debt collector and claimed I never returned the book. After I showed the debt collector an email confirming it was returned and received, they CHANGED their reason to returning it damaged with the pages ripped off along with water damage (False!). I returned it the same way I received it. They are a bunch of crooks. I am not one to write a bad review but this is a very deceitful business!Review fromAnnie G

1 starLike others, I was scammed by this company. I had a book I sent in that was in great condition. They sent me a picture of the book ripped off the cover and binding, stating it was too damaged to sell, and I wouldnt receive any money. I did not send a book in that condition. They stated I can either get it back & pay for shipping or they keep the book. I didnt respond at this point, as I was so irritated that they either sent a fake image or damaged the book themselves. They now are stating my book was counterfeit, so now they get to withhold the book from me. Seems like this is their gimmick to get free textbooks then sell them to others. Dont even bother with the long and fake apology Books Run. Youre disgusting.Review fromEmily A

1 starI ordered a textbook on 7/11/23 and paid **** for expedited shipping because I needed it this week. The package came today and was empty and the inside of it glued together. *** tried calling them only to get a recording and call disconnected, *** emailed to be told it will be answered within 72 business hours, and tried their live chat only to be told by the robot to call or email them. I do not feel like this company is very good and they need to be made to make things right!Review fromNicole B

1 starThis is the email I just sent them- my first few sellbacks with them were fine. For the record, I am a professional bookseller and know the conditions of books according to accepted industry standards.I feel scammed. The Last Palace was in excellent condition, and the Arabic book was certainly not in poor condition- not in brand new shape, but certainly could be rated as 'good'. Obviously your price for return shipping is ridiculous- via media mail it should be at the 3 or 4 pound price, so no more than $6 or so, not almost $13. I certainly hope you don't do this with the order I have coming to you now. Do I need to take photos of the books as I pack them since you offer no fair way to dispute this? Very disappointed. I assume you wait until a new customer trusts you will be honest before you start the ripping off.
