Brought my snowblower in for service on 10/19/2024. They charged me $222.83 which I paid. I then tried to start the snowblower and it won’t turn over. I called them back and was told to figure it out myself, they are not working on snowblowers until the fall.

When ******* ******* called my employee told him we are not working on snowblowers till the fall after Labor Day.  I called and left a message twice 5/525 and 5/8/25, he called back and said he would bring it in Saturday 5/10. I looked at while waited, found spark plug was black & glazed over (black) this can only be caused by bad gas or running machine on choke.  Put new spark plug in ($6.95) & machine started right up, then rechecked starting then pumped gas out of tank, this problem was caused by customer.  Nothing to do with original repair.  Would be nice if he would state that on a google review about us.  This issue is resolved.  Thank you. Gary * ******* Buds Snowblower

I called bud's snowblower service and told them it was running rough and to check this out as well as an oil change and plug change . When the snow blower was returned the engine was doing the same thing and I was told all ****** snow blowers ran like that ( IT NEVER DID BEFORE THE PROBLEM AROSE ) .The bill also listed many other things that had been replaced and repaired including clean and rebuild carburetor, at a total cost of $485.03 . I also had them return it as the fast and slow lever was loose and when running drifted to the slow position after setting it to full throttle . They repaired this at no charge and returned it . I used the snowblower the first time after a storm in November and it ran well enough to clear the snow . The second time I used the blower in the last storm in December, I used it for a short time and could not get my driveway finished as the snowblower was leaking gas badly so much so it emptied the tank .I called them and had them pick it up to finally fix the problem . They called on 1-04-23 to deliver and told me they had to rebuild the carburetor and wanted to charge me for the repair , I do not feel I should be charged for the same repair twice or a delivery charge . I told the owner this and he then told me he could knock some off and would take $150.00 cash. I told him I feel there should be no charge he then told me well we'll just let it sit here then , and this is where we are now .

See attached.  Transcribed below:  Mr. ****** had his ****** Snowblower Compact 24, tuned & checked complete, also other repairs.  Anger belt broken spring ect.  When we initially delivered it he couldn't not accept it say his fast/slow lever was too east to move which he never mentioned previously,  Brought back unit, pulled off covers and parts and tightened slightly and redelivered.  On his original invoice we had written and highlighted, (Note: use fresh gas kwik fill 90 octane non-ethanol) and highlighted with yellow marker like this and our driver also mentions not to use old or ethanol gas because it separates (phase separation) and tiny water droplets get between the needle and seat on the carb and it causes it to leak and pour gas out, we highlight every invoice we do because ethanol causes so many problems. When he called the 2nd time he said "I don't know if I messed up my snowblower but with that heavy snow I think I blew a seal and I need it picked up and gave info. (Invoice ****)  We picked up his snowblower, re-serviced it (pulled covers and knobs and flushed out gas tank and re-clean carb and bowl, carb gaskets were 8.80 again as they can't be re-used once carb is taken apart.  When I talked to him on the phone when we attempted to deliver it, I explained about using older ethanol gas or ethanol gas he stated it was our gas still from when we delivered it in the fall, which I knew was a lie considering all the snow we received in November and the huge December blizzard.  I've gone through 1 3/4 gallons of gas in my own ****** at this home, at this point I offered to split labor and eat the parts for the amount of $150 cash.  Customer refused and said he is not paying a thing.  I politely told him then the machine can sit here, which it still is.  I have been in business since 1981 and have never had a minor complaint from a customer I couldn't work out and never have gotten a letter from BBB.  Invoice stands at $208.22.  Enclosed are copies of both invoices, any questions please contact me.  -Gary C****** ************

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below. (see attached.  Also transcribed below)
In the first paragraph of Mr.******** comments, he stated I did not mention the (fast/slow ) lever in the inital phone call , that was because there was nothing wrong with the lever until the snowblower was returned to me, the lever was in good working order before his repair.I did purchase 90 octane – non ethanol fuel but never used it as the snowblower had over 1/2 tank Iassume came from his shop . Mr. ******* also neglected to mention he rebuilt the carburetor on the first repair (invoice ****) thats twice now .  In the second paragraph of Mr. ******** response regarding the 2nd  phone call I never said anything about (heavy snow ) or (I messed up my snowblower ) or (I think I blew a seal ) I told him I just started to use the snowblower and only cleared a small amout of the driveway before the snowblower started leaking gas and pouring out on the driveway. As far as the the amount of gas I used clearing my driveway once in the November storm and started to use once in December the  gas I used was gas left in the tank from the repair . I am not a liar and do not appreciate being called one . Mr. ******* was anything but polite on the phone and hung up before the conversation was ended. In summary between the one time I used the snowblower in November and started to use it in December the snow blower ran for approximately 25 minutes before it failed and started leaking fuel. I think anyone would agree the original repair was faulty and not a new problen as Mr. ******* would like us to believe .On  the back of the invoice it states : OUR POLICY – We try sincerely to handle every service call honestly – effeictently- and at a fair price . Should you ever have a question regarding our work please feel free to bring it to us . I did and as you can see I was over charged and called a liar .I am extremely dissatisfied with this business , it's practices and its policy . I stand firm on my belief I should not have to pay for faulty repairs and repairs done twice . **** ******
