I purchased a 2024 Santa Fe Hybrid from Towne Hyundai. At 999 miles, every warning light the vehicle came on and the vehicle started having shifting issues. This occurred on a Sunday.
Monday morning, I called the service department to explain the issue. I was told the next available appointment wasn't for a week, but they would give me a loaner when I dropped of the vehicle.
When I brought the vehicle in for service, I was told I would receive a call later that day with a diagnosis and time frame. I was given a loaner vehicle. The two service reps joked about the dirty the exterior was, while telling me they would charge a cleaning fee if I brought the vehicle back dirty, especially if there was a pet or someone smoked in the vehicle. The interior was even dirty than the outside.
Two days after I was told I'd receive a call, they called to let me know the shifter module would have to be replaced. I was told this part is on backorder, so it may take over a month. Regardless, they said I would get weekly updates. At this time, I complained about the loaner and asked for something bigger. The representative said they don’t have anything available now, but they would call me as soon as something became available.
Twenty (20) days passed until I heard from the dealership again when they told me the vehicle was fixed. No updates, no replacement loaner, just a call about of the blue to come pick up my car.
At this point, I had started a lemon law case with Hyundai Corporate. Towne didn’t care. They said I needed to pick my vehicle up because they needed their loaner back for other customers. I can continue however I want with Corporate after that.
When I picked up my vehicle, there was no apology, no “thank you for your patience”, nothing. Just a “here’s your key, sign here, have a nice day.” What I got back was a dirty vehicle. Not only did I have to clean their car, but now I had to clean the mess they made in mine. There is also a strong smell in the car now.
