We are deeply sorry to hear about the loss of ****. We understand how heartbreaking it is to lose a beloved pet, and our thoughts are with you during this difficult time.
We want to clarify that when **** was brought to our hospital, the owner mentioned having an upcoming appointment at ******* and chose not to proceed with our recommendation for hospitalization and further diagnostic testing, including imaging. Without consent to move forward, our ability to intervene was limited. We truly wish the outcome had been different and extend our heartfelt condolences for your loss.

1 starOn 12/23/2024 I took our cat, *****, for her appt at OPVMC for a consult with internal medicine, a CT and subsequent biopsy of a tumor in her nasal cavity. That afternoon I received a call stating that she had a reaction to the anesthetic and went into cardiac arrest. The vet kept using the words oxygen depravation and I didn’t understand why since they were able to resuscitate her. I asked if she was on a monitor and was told yes. The truth started to trickle out in the next couple days, first starting with the vet stating that the techs told her she was on a monitor but it malfunctioned. Then we were told no monitor and she may have been down for 4-6 minutes. The vet also stated that while she was still required to give us an estimate, we were not supposed to pay it as the hospital was conducting an in house investigation on this matter. On 12/27 we received a call from the hospital admin, dir of pt care and a DVM with the findings from their investigation. They interviewed staff and reviewed security footage and found that the senior vet tech performing the CT had unplugged the oxygen prior to the CT and forgot to turn it back on. There was also no monitor on Jelly. So the entire time of the CT, which was 6 minutes, our cat was without oxygen. Once the CT was done the senior vet tech went back in and discovered his mistake and CPR was initiated. Our cat spent over a week in their ICU fighting for her life and unfortunately lost that battle on 12/31/2024. Her death is a direct result of their negligence. This has been compounded by the continuous lies and cover ups. During this conference call I told them I wanted written documentation of their investigative findings. I was told this would be part of her medical records. I have been fighting to get these since 12/31. Her medical records state she had a reaction to anesthesia. They never updated her records to reflect their findings and I was told by hospital admin on 1/10 that they wouldn’t.Review fromHeidi B

1 starThey asked me same questions over n over on phone n then when I kept giving same answers, the nasty phone girl said "you're repeating yourself"well keep asking same questions... same answers ?? I took in the nearly dead cat, it was seriously right about to die, n first question "r u adopting it?" Omg it's FERAL...I brought the tnr vet record to show, unowned feral tnr cat with MANY health issues n fresh wounds ,that the feral vet thurs did all they could do, sadly help came too late. Then they wanted money tho its a surrender ( I had a friend with me to back me up on how we were treated..we also witnessed another client being mistreated in the office!!!) they said they would take the cat JUST THIS ONCE BUT NEVER AGAIN cuz he was already at a vet n he's not a pet n that's "not what they r there for" he was tnr thurs but was very sick then n he would be dead by am n was crying in pain!!!! I know they r busy n get a lot of calls but are they that desensitized?? No compassion. If I had noticed he was that sick while trapping I should have left him in parking lot to die! Their words. I was under impression stray or feral that are sick injured n CLEARLY dying ( i had vids n pics) is y they exist .i called ahead like they prefer n told them he is FERAL ALMOST DEAD N SUFFERING ...but they asked if im adopting!!! n who is paying. Im surrendering him!!!! they were so rude on phone but i thought they might be really busy but no one was in line n they took me right away. This was a sick injured FERAL dying in pain but they said they wont "do it again" i was there last week with my own colony cat, hit by car n the treatment wasnt much better that time either. id been there several times over the years with hurt ferals n never been issue . i would have taken him back to a feral vet to be put down today but he'd have died in his sleep i didnt want him in pain. They need to reevaluate their mission and take classes on compassion!!!Review fromAshley M

1 starThe entire process was solely about money. They gave Venus care that was not appropriate for her symptoms after I informed the veterinarian that she has had an opening in her skull and I felt that she had hydrocephalus, the vet felt that she had a tbi (no physical contact was made with ***** nor was there any marks on her to back this diagnosis) I felt that the staff just treats animals in a very money hungry manner. I was not given the correct information of her level of care. She came home barely able to stand and when she did she would spin in circles (again very common in patients with hydrocephalus, as the staff completely ignored all of the signs!) after receiving $1,500 this morning, I emailed the billing department for an updated copy that reflected the correct amount and Rose L****** informed me that I’m at risk of having the remainder $909.18 in collections as the $2505 that has already been paid as of today wasn’t enough. I know my rights and this is not legal. If orchard park puts my account into collections I fully intend on taking legal actions. I’ve asked for the online payment to be emailed to me as it does not work and asked for a new agreement be made now that the grant has gone through! The staff hasn’t asked how Venus is doing just wants their money, that in my opinion is too high for the level of care she received. We now have a new neurosurgeon that has costed in 2 visits roughly $600 and a $12.99 steroid without the mri scan that orchard park was trying to scam me out of and after 2-3 days of being on the steroids for her accurate diagnosis she is now fully recovered and doing very well. This office is a scam and should be investigated! I have all of her records in hand and ready to submit as well!Review fromSUSAN K

I took my kitty to this facility at the suggestion of my regular vet as he had run out of options that he could help with and suggested a consult with a specialist. The concern was that she had cancer. I was prepared to spend what was needed within my means to save my girl.
My kitty was starving, would eat everything in sight all day if she could including people food, and despite that was wasting away.
We went in at the very end of November 2023 for a consult with Dr T****, at which time she presented me with several options to try to discover what was going on. We did an ultrasound which was inconclusive, and then I opted to go one step further and have a needle biopsy of her liver done to see if that's where the cancer was, and it was negative. I left with a plan to try some meds and see how things went.
My beautiful girl died 4 days after this test. She came home, ate maybe one teaspoon of food, and then never ate again. She would hover over her food bowl or water dish like she wanted to, but just couldn't. She lost another pound in those 4 days, had a massive seizure in my arms and died.
I wrote a letter to one of the owners- a Dr Paul K*** advising that I believe my girl died as a result of some type of gross negligence on the part of either Dr T**** or whomever did the biopsy- that they did something they shouldn't that caused the death of my girl.
I never received a response of any kind.
As a result I cannot recommend this facility to anyone, nor Dr T**** or Dr K***. I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.
I do want to say Dr A***** was lovely and tried to help my child on her last day when I took her in due to the lack of eating/drinking. She is the only individual I have anything positive to say about.Orchard Park Veterinary Medical Center

Hi *****,
We are deeply sorry about the loss of ******. Losing a loved one is never easy. Our medical director reviewed ******'s record. Unfortunately, it is often difficult to determine the cause of terminal deterioration in pets without a necropsy.
While there is always the potential for complications related to any procedure it is very uncommon for fine needle aspirate (FNA) samples collected from the liver with the guidance of ultrasound (this was the procedure performed on ****** by Dr. T****, we perform biopsies (larger piece of tissue collected) via surgery)). The needle use for FNA procedures is smaller than that used for routine blood draws on people and it is very unusual for them to cause extensive bleeding/fatal bleeding as even if a blood vessel is punctured in the abdomen (using ultrasound to guide the needle assists with reducing this likelihood) as the body is typically able to seal the hole. Also, we observe the abdomen immediately after the procedure with ultrasound to ensure it is not showing any signs of bleeding or complications. Additionally, if there is a bleeding or other significant complications from a procedure it would be uncommon for a pet to have a slow deterioration over the course of a few days (they usually get really sick really fast).
****** had extensive evidence of a chronic illness - severely underweight, evidence of fat accumulation in the liver on the FNA sample evaluated that Dr. T**** collected. It is much more likely that she had continued deterioration from her chronic disease than the relatively minimally invasive procedure performed by Dr. T****.
We are unsure if Dr. K*** received your letter or if it was given to our previous hospital administrator. We are once again so sorry for your loss.
Take care.Review fromRachel K

2 starsPrices increase regularly for appointments. Medication prices are astronomical. OPVMC increases prices on long term use medications without advising client/customer. Cost of one script raised almost $100 in a year. Cost of another went from $46 to $96. Emergency services price increased from $75 to $175. Blood tests are extremely overpriced. Cost is way out of alignment with local providers. Emergency services delay pets from receiving regular appointments as vets make a higher profit margin off emergency treatments. Vet does not provide any written information from appointment, other than the bill, which they don’t show until checkout. The amount is always a surprise. Long-time staff is rude, unfriendly. Checkout area is horrendously small causing pets and owners to be jammed ontop of each other. Checkout time is incredibly long, sometimes over an hour. Full bill amount isn’t shown or told before your card is run.Review fromnelson t

This place is a RIPOFF!! Because she wouldn't listen to me or read records about why I was there the vet missed diagnosed my pet. Made up an illness that WASN'T true and gave me meds that could have killed my baby!! I SHOULD HAVE RUN when I heard 2 different animals in the back room WAILING/SCREAMING like they were being tortured. This place will steal your money and NOT TAKE CARE OF YOUR ANIMALS or even kill them!Orchard Park Veterinary Medical Center

We appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns. First and foremost, we would like to clarify that our veterinary team takes every measure to provide accurate diagnoses and administer appropriate treatments based on the physical examination and presenting problems. The statement that we misdiagnosed your pet is simply untrue. Your regular veterinarian sent you to our facility for additional treatment and care which was provided.
It's important to note that veterinary care, especially at a specialty facility that operates 24/7, involves specialized expertise, advanced equipment, and round-the-clock availability is going to cost more than it will at your regular community veterinarian. This level of care is reflected in the associated costs. We understand that veterinary expenses can be challenging, and we strive to be transparent about our pricing.
Regarding the noise you mentioned in the back room, we sincerely apologize if it caused distress. Veterinary clinics can be busy environments, and at times, animals may be vocal for a variety of reasons. Rest assured, our team is trained to handle each case with care and compassion to ensure the well-being of every patient.
Upon review of your file, this information has already been relayed to you from conversation you had with our Client Services Manager on January 3, 2024. On behalf of OPVMC, we wish you all the best and hope that your pet is feeling better.Review fromzara w

1 starI never had a problem with OPVH, in Orchard Park, NY - Until recently with two cruel "client service" female representatives that hung up the phone on me, ganged up on me and discriminated my mothers accent over nothing-yet they created this as the most horrifying situation. . We had two numbers on file. As you all know clinics always ask for a 2nd number is case of an emergency. They called my mom yelling at her based off of my problem with the clinic(which I didn't know about)that was charging me an apparent no show fee for an appointment. My mom was confused why they are yelling at her about owing it and confused because she never had an appointment. She then called me confused which confused me. I said I would call them to discuss thinking this is all a mistake and miscommunication and not thinking they would ever accuse us and be so threatening..
I never made an appointment yet they were forcing me to pay 58$. The money is not the problem. The problem was accusation, lack of listening to a client after bringing business to them for 8 years, lack of listening, genuine support and respect. Why would you go against clients in such a demeaning offensive way-disrespectfully.
I tried to call and resolve this systematic issue and pay the fee that I didn't owe. For the health of my sweet doggy I simply wanted to pay the fee. They sent me a disgraceful letter that I can't go to the clinic any longer. What have I DONE? Can anyone explain ? I gave up. Found my Lovely pup a new place of Love. I loved the clinic there but whoever works behind doors in the office is a nightmare that will/can affect the life of your beloved animal.Review fromElizabeth B.

After a referral from my primary vet we brought our dog for a surgical consultation/2nd opinion on September 20, 2023. Staff & dr seemed very attentive and it was decided to do a CT scan for further diagnosis. Scan was performed on site that day ($3000) and we were told results and follow up phone call would be in 3-5 days. After 1 week we called, no call back, during the next 2-3 weeks multiple phone calls were made with promises Dr K*** would call back. After no call back I asked my primary vet to intervene and she received results within 10 minutes, but no call from Dr K***. Scan suggested nothing could be done for my dog and this would "significantly" shorten her life. As of November 4, 2023 have received no call from Dr K***. I feel that because there was no possibility of surgery, our dog was not worth any additional time from him. I understand not having any options regarding her treatment but at the very least i deserved a follow up call. Absolutely disgusting unprofessional behavior. I expected better and deserved better from this hospital and dr.Orchard Park Veterinary Medical Center
