T Masonry was supposed to extend my porch and build a patio. I paid them a $3,000 deposit to secure the project and to buy materials. The first week of work went fine and the contractor asked for $3,000 progress payment - the total cost of the job is $11,200. After he cashed the check he did make a few mistakes on the porch - the porch was supposed to have an even stone overhang all the way around, and he apparently measured wrong as one side has a 4 inch overhang and one side has no overhang at all. I very politely asked how we are going to solve the issue, because frankly it doesn’t look very good and it’s not what we had agreed on. We spoke on the phone about it on Friday and seemed like he understood and that we would meet to discuss on Monday. He came to my house at 7 am on Monday when it was still dark - I saw him outside and went out to say hello. We had a friendly exchange and I told him that I would be back at 9 to talk to him after I dropped my kids off at school. He smiled and nodded. When I came back he had taken all of his equipment and wouldn’t return my calls or texts. My backyard is absolutely trashed - debris everywhere, crusher dust and mud from his skid steer and a porch that is partially done incorrectly. This man took $6,000 from me and left me with a trashed yard and thousands of dollars of repairs to do. I’ve never had such an awful experience with any contractor. I would like my money back so I can put it towards fixing his mess.

      Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
      Regards,

**** *********My yard is still trashed, the project is not done and what is done is done poorly. T Masonry took $6,000 from me. He should absolutely not have an A+ rating on BBB. Tracey has not reached out to me once to try to resolve this.

      Business Response

      Date: 12/09/2022

Response taken by phone:  She gave me $6000 and we completed more than half of the work.  She became very demanding and made many changes to the agreed upon scope of work.  I asked for approval of the layout for stonework to the back patio before setting mortar and she OK'ed it.  The next morning, they had a problem with it and she wanted me to rip it out and fix it.  The relationship became very hostile.  More than 75% of the job is finished but I will not be seeking further compensation.
