My name is ******* ****** and I am writing to ask for assistance with an issue I am having with a gunsmith.

I received an old ****** ** shotgun from a family member as the gun has been in the family for 75 years. I wanted to have it restored for my godfather. I took the gun to finger lakes classic gunsmithing October 19, 2021.

    The gun is still there.

Do I have any recourse against the owner ? I cannot get a straight answer out of him on when the gun will be completed? I have been told different story’s on the status of the gun for over a year. I honestly think it may have been lost and he is trying to piecemeal another one together. I was told yesterday it was complete and today I was told it’s missing pieces and it’s not done?

I just need guidance as I am concerned the gun has been lost or damaged or parts of it have been lost. Any assistance I would greatly appreciate. I have attached screenshots of conversations with the owner, Marc arena, and him stringing me along, telling me the gun is not there and then telling me its missing pieces. This has just been a real disaster for me and I just want the gun returned.
He originally quoted me 300 to 400 verbally for repairs and told me it would be 3-4 months. Now he is telling me it’s over 600 and he wants me to pay for the parts he lost.

I want the gun returned and the price to reflect what I was originally quoted.

Response taken by phone:  There was a misunderstanding about the delay.  We had to send the gun out to have some of the work done.  When we got the gun back we had to reassemble it but also had to located some missing parts. Since then we finished the gun and he has picked it up.
