In the spring of 2019, I contacted A1 Roofing as I had a leak around my chimney on my flat roof. The company told me that I needed to replace the entire flat roof and install a chimney new flashing. They gave me few proposals ( attaching 2) . I agreed to the proposal that has the 10 year warranty which included the Flat Roof and Chimney Flashing. The install took place in May 2019. In December 2019 I had another chimney leak. A1 Roofing came back to fix the issue. Obviously, the job was not completed properly in the first place. Each time that I had a chimney leak, my family room walls were damaged and had to take care of repairs out of my pocket. Early this month, I had a major chimney leak following the rain. I contacted A1 Roofing and for 3 weeks they had me going back and forth playing games . **** VP of sales sent me a plan of action ( that I requested) to fix the issues and had a schedule for next Tuesday9/3 to complete. I was shocked today he emailed me to indicate he would not complete the job under pretexts that my original job had no warranty. I did not agree to a $5500.00 Job with No Warranty. Paid $5300 after 200 discount. This is unacceptable and unfair. Please advise of resolution. Thank you. ****** *******

We are writing in response to the complaint filed by ******** ******* regarding the roofing services provided by A1 Roofing in March 2019. We would like to clarify the facts of the matter to ensure a fair and accurate resolution.

*** ******* initially contacted A1 Roofing to address concerns with her roof and requested multiple estimates for the work. These estimates varied in terms of scope, pricing, and warranty coverage. After reviewing the options, *** ******* selected an estimate totaling $5,500 for the specific scope of work that was agreed upon, and a payment of $5,300 was made to A1 Roofing once the project was completed.

The proposal that was accepted and completed did not include a warranty. *** ******* is now referencing a separate estimate for $8,250, which included a warranty. However, this was not the estimate she accepted, nor was the corresponding work ever performed or paid for. As such, A1 Roofing has no obligation to honor the warranty associated with an estimate that was not chosen or completed.

We have acted in good faith throughout this process, providing the services as outlined in the agreed-upon estimate and delivering the work according to the selected scope. A1 Roofing cannot be held accountable for warranty terms tied to a proposal that was neither accepted nor paid for.

We hope this clarifies the situation and respectfully request that this matter be considered resolved based on the facts presented.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

A1 Roofing is flip flopping. The $5500 job was part of the $8250 Job. I did not agree to a $5500 job with NO warranty.

In addition, last month A1 Roofing sent their ****** ***** who ripped off and damaged my chimney flashing and part of my Roofing , Please see attached photos.   This is unacceptable.

A1 roofing has to be held to account. They are dishonest and are ripping people off like me. This is unfair

The proposal for $8,250 was not selected, completed, or paid for by ******** *******.

As indicated by ******** ******* original complaint, a payment of $5,300 was made after a $200 discount. This payment is directly tied to the proposal and work completed for $5,500 (originally attached). There was no warranty included in the $5,500 proposal.

Each proposal requested by ******** ******* consisted of varying work, pricing, and warranties. Proposals cannot be mixed and matched at the customers discretion.

A1 ******************** did send someone on-site to investigate the leak after a call to the office. To properly investigate the area of the leak, it is necessary to probe the area and pull back shingles/flashing to find potential sources of water intrusion. No damage was caused by A1s investigation; this is simply a diagnostic measure to ensure the correct areas leading to leaks are identified. The investigated area was closed and sealed back up to its existing condition.

Afterwards, ******** insisted that there was a warranty on the original work and that it should be fixed at no cost. As referenced in the originally attached proposal for $5,500, there is no warranty for the repairs originally made at the home.

    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

This is unacceptable, dishonest and unfair on the part of A1 Roofing. Their ******* damaged my chimney flashing and part of my roof in August 2024. If I did not have a warranty like A1 Roofing management claims, why did they send their ******* to inspect my roof in the first place. I am pursing my complaint next with Consumer Affairs.

    Thank you.
