On 5/2/23, I brought my **** ****** Tacoma in for a *** inspection sticker. It expired 4/23 and my engine light was on. **** looked @ sticker and said that will be 21 dollars, I paid him cash, but received no receipt. He said bring it back tomorrow and we'll take a look at it. I dropped it off Wednesday, 5/3/23 to find out that **** was now on vacation. I left my car there for 3 days and went back to pick it up on Friday, 5/5/23. ****'s shop helper, **** said he put a new part in it because my engine light would not go off and that I should drive it over the weekend to make sure the light does not come back on and then they could issue me a new sticker. **** gave me a bill that stated he removed and replaced *** valve for the amount of $534.59. I told ************************************ to this, that I recently had the *** valve replaced and that was the reason the engine light was on, and my computer code was p402/ *** valve. I took my car home and told ********** would pay the bill if the light remained off. I returned on Monday, May 8,2023 and the engine light came back on Saturday, 5/9/23. I was told that the part could have been a faulty part even though the part was new and recently installed. So, they did another test and said it was possible that my valves were sticking. So, they sent me home with my car and a valve gage attached to my engine to see if my valves were sticking and told me to drive it around for another weekend and bring it back the following Monday, 5/15/23. Saturday, 5/13/23, the light came back on. When I returned on Monday, 5/15/23 for the valve gage to be removed, **** said it could be the computer and it would cost about $100.00 at the junk yard and if I wanted to search for one. I said no you finish the job. So, I left with my car. Later, **** told me he called the dealership who said it would be about $1,000 but it wasn't available. I paid the bill in October 2023 even though there was no resolution, and the light was still on. I went to another mechanic who fixed the problem with an Original ****** part. This mechanic said the part they removed was NOT an original ****** part and that could be why the light would not go off.
