    Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# ********, and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

The response from Diplomats regarding my complaint contains several inaccuracies. They falsely claimed that the interior drywall and skylight were defective prior to the signing of the work contract. This assertion is entirely untrue. Prior to Diplomats involvement, both the drywall land skylight were in perfect condition, with no signs of damage or issues. Diplomats agreed to repair the skylight, acknowledging their responsibility for the damage caused by their work.

Furthermore, Diplomats alleged that I did not raise concerns about the footprints on the roof during the day of the work. This statement is also incorrect. While I was present, I immediately addressed the issue of the footprints in the tar and was assured by the Diplomats crew that it was a temporary issue and would naturally fade over time. I have text messages to corroborate this claim.

Diplomats claim that I caused the delays in the work due to my absence is partially true, as I did want to be present while work was being conducted in my home. However, the primary issue with the delay stemmed from Diplomats failure to adhere to the agreed upon schedule. They did not show up on the scheduled date to rectify the skylight and roof issues, only to appear unannounced a few days later. The day the Diplomats crew returned is when I was subjected to a racial slur. Contrary to Diplomats assertion, this issue was promptly reported to the onsite ******************************, who apologized to me on behalf of his crew member. Additionally, my wife communicated with the manager, ***** about the incident, which resulted in a 20% discount on future services.

In their response, Diplomats states that my attempts to seek resolution through ************** were unsuccessful. This is partially true. My initial attempt was denied as it seems Diplomats provided the bank with a document stating I signed off on their work. However recent communications with ************** revealed that Diplomats provided altered documents to support their false claims that I approved the job upon completion. In fact, the job has never been completed. I am in possession of the altered document and can provide it.

At present, I have paid Diplomat in full, despite enduring extensive damage to my home. The replaced skylight was incorrectly installed, in the wrong location rendering it useless, and a bathroom vent that was removed during the skylight replacement was never reinstalled. Furthermore, the drywall surrounding the skylight remains damaged and cracked, and the footprints on the roof are still clearly visible and pool water. All of my claims can be evidenced by photographic and written documentation. Please let me know if youd like me to provide it.

, upon inspection, I found the work was still **************************** The cracked skylight glass was replaced, but the surrounding interior area remained damaged. They also incorrectly installed the tarred-over skylight, putting it in the wrong place instead of the original location, rendering it totally useless. They neglected to reinstall an air vent they had removed from the bathroom without my permission. The footprints on my roof were still visible, with areas deep enough to hold standing water. Additionally, while in my home a member of the Diplomat crew called me a racial slur which I immediately reported to the *******. Despite my attempts to reach the owner for further assistance, I received no response. As a result, I'm left with unresolved issues & additional damage to my home. I am requesting a refund for the inadequate work performed by Diplomat, as I will need to hire another contractor to complete the repairs & address the damage caused by their negligence.

******************** is not being truthful. The interior drywall was already damaged before we even signed a contract with him to do his roof. HIs skylight had already been cracked. He was up on the roof with the roofers as they were doing the work every single day and there were no complaints, nor any mentions of them cracking his skylight until well after the job was completed and signed off on for the financing. Out of good faith, we agreed to give him a free skylight because we had done work with him in the past. ******************** resides in ***********, therefore the dates that he mentions of February being the delays of coming back was his decision, He didn't want anyone working on his home without him being there. This is the first that I am hearing anything at all about being called a "racial slur" ******************** called my office about each and everything else that he had a complaint about, yet he didn't call about being called a racial slur, especially when the owner is the same race as he is. ******************** also failed at 2 attempts to accuse our company of fraud and disputing the charges with *************** On the last day that my roofers were there installing the free skylight, the ******* had a conversation with *******************************, and she requested at that to " If and when she decided to do some more work could she have a 20% discount for any inconveniences." It was granted by text as per her request and we parted company to her satisfaction. This is now 2 months later from her husband. I've included the text sent to ******************************* that she requested along with my contract showing that was no skylight contracted to be done as ******************** stated.

In response to ******************** complaint again, his work is guaranteed. Any leaks that he may have will be addressed should they arise. The damage to the interior of the home was already there prior to us starting the roof. In no way is another contractor estimate or scope of work going to be paid by Diplomat. We promised to return to install the free skylight, and we did that.

My name is *****************************, and I am writing on behalf of my senior parents, my mother is 80 and my father is 76 years old. *** ****** told my parents that they would correct and fix the valley in the roof, and they do the shower over and it will cost them ******. I was at work when my mother signed the documents and when I heard about the ridiculous amount they were being charged for a shower and the valley of the roof, I knew they took advantage of my parents, so I requested to meet with him. During the meeting I requested a breakdown of the cost and how he came up with ******, and he refused to give me the requested information stating, " I don't give break downs, that is not how I do my business". When he left with his partner, I told my parents that companies like this love to financially exploit the elderly, and this Finacial Elder Abuse. My father said he will talk to ****** again about the price and then ****** changed it to ****** and change, which is still high and still has not provided a breakdown of how he came up with that price. My father also shared with me that when he came with the new contract, he was disrespectful. *** ****** is now claiming that he cannot complete the valley of the roof because he needs permission from our neighbor due to the houses being semi attached. Why didn't *** ****** say that in the beginning when he first came to the house and assed the valley? We are now left with a leaking roof, that is leaking into our kitchen. He is the only contractor that has told us he can't complete the work without the neighbor's consent. Our neighbor out of town and we are not sure when he will be back. If *** ****** can't complete the shower and the roof, we would like the overpriced contract to be terminated, and for him to never take advantage of any other seniors again!!

    Business Response

The contract was signed with ************************************** and his wife ****. The original request by them was to do the entire house (roof, 3 bathrooms and a kitchen) for $ ******. WE asked them to just do necessities only and the contract was drawn up for $ ******.  We did the work, after which the daughter had a problem with the price & we voided the original contract for $ ****** reduced it to $ ****** and re-wrote the new contract and it was signed. At that time, The *********************** boasted about another company that previously did his boiler that he had a signed contract for in the amount of $ ****** and after that company completed their work, he refused to pay them and after a back and forth with them as well the company agreed to take $ ****** just to get out of the job. There is a problem with the roof that was unforeseen from the ground. Where the valley meets the two houses of The Abanda's and their neighbor there is a work that needs to be done on the neighbor's roof. We are willing to do that free of charge, however we are not permitted to just go on someone's roof and do work without their permission. The leak is NOT from the Abanda's portion of the valley. A walk-through was done, and they were completely satisfied with the work including the shower and ***************** signed a completion certificate.

Our job was to install brick on the front and side porch. The area that ***************** is showing is fixable but due to the heavy rains and weather we haven't been able to get to her as of yet. The leader pipe popped out of the connection where they meet. We asked her to just be patient and she agreed that she would be. I have put a call into my ******* to get him there ASAP, my apologies to ***************** for the inconvenience.
