We have extensive text and email messages supporting this complaint, tracing back to May of 2024, and have been appealing to the business owner (*****) to do the right thing and return our money via multiple texts, emails and calls since that time. We managed to connect live with him once in Sept/Oct at which time he did not dispute our request and agreed to refund the money, although he never did so. We have left ~6-8 voicemails through the months and emailed him again last month to let him know we would have to escalate via the BBB or other measures as last resorts if he did not respond within a few days.On May 13, 2024 ***** of Insul-Tec Spray Foam asked us for a $4,500 down payment to purchase materials for a spray foam job he was slated to do at our home, which we paid to him that day by check. During the following two weeks, we confirmed final details of the job and discussed timing of install. On May 31, we texted him to arrange the install date and ask whether he could do the job in mid-June, as we had to coordinate dry wall install after the spray foam; he did not reply to multiple texts and calls for 10 full days, at which time he said he had been unwell and busy with other jobs and that we had missed an install window he had. As he could not commit to finding time to do the job at any point in the coming weeks, we were forced to scramble and engage a different contractor for the job and informed him of this on 11 June, requesting a full refund of $4,500. Later, we sent him a couple of emails to chase up the refund and indicate he could keep $400 since he had provided some useful advice. The situation is clear cut in the sense that there is no basis for the business owner to keep the money we paid him, as he did not provide us any services and surely would have used any materials he bought for our job - however unlikely - for his other clients. We can provide text and phone records if needed.Thank you very much for helping us resolve this!

    Better Business Bureau:

At this time, I have not been contacted by Insul-Tec Spray Foam regarding complaint ID ********.

After reading your last message from 8 May, I emailed the business owner (*****) on 9 May again to let him know that you had contacted me indicating that he had not responded to you.  I appealed to him again to refund the money he owes and to let him know that I am prepared to take legal action against Insul-tec if need be, as much as I would hate to have to pursue that path.  He has not replied.

At this point, seeing as I have been more than patient and reasonable with him - calling and emailing for almost a year now - I do think it's important to warn other prospective clients of this situation with Insul-tec, which clearly is not a trustworthy and honest business acting in good faith.

    Sincerely,

    ********* *****
