I purchased hearing aids from McGuires with a 45 day return policy. I was willing to make the $6000 investment but found they were unusable - muffled speech, tinny sound quality, and overwhelming extraneous noises that could not be filtered out. I was initiallly told that my "brain had to adjust" and that a "brain adjustment" could take weeks. I went back and forth for "adjustments" that resolved nothing. Now I find they did not follow accepted protocol for setting a base decibel level which could cause the issues I had. Moreover, the office was open only 4 days a week and was so booked that I often had to wait two weeks for an appointment - while the clock was running. The hearing aids were absolutely unusable and I finally lost patience. I was told that the main office would contact me to discuss. Instead, on Saturday July 9 2022 I received a nasty, threatening letter from the ********** ******************** saying I could return them for a refund less 10%, with a deadine of July 10, the next day Sunday, to return them. It was virtually impossible to meet his deadline and I believe this was deliberate since the letter was written on June 29 and not mailed until 4:35 on July 1 (see tracking), which was the beginning of the July 4 weekend. On Monday July 11 I returned the hearing aids certified and overnight as instructed and sent a letter to him directly. The hearing aids were delivered on July 12; they refused to sign for them but they were received (see tracking). The letter, also overnighted, was delivered on July 13.************ still did not respond so I sent a followup email on July 15, recapping the events and including an email from a therapist regarding my inability to have a conversation. I gave an end date of July 20 to return my money. There has been no response from ******************* and no refund. *********** has not honored his own agreement and negotiated in bad faith. I am a senior citizen and $6000 is significant; I need to buy other hearing aids asap.
