Had my 2016 *** ***** towed to Vargus Automotive on 11/16/23 for no start.I informed them that I had a mechanic install a crank sensor I purchased from ******** because that was a fault that popped up when he plugged my vehicle into the machine.Carlos stated to that that would need to be replaced because it was after market along with a cam sensor, those were the faults that were reading when he hooked the vehicle to the machine..Carlos quoted me $632 for replacing the sensors and labor. The wait time for the sensors to come in was approximately 2 weeks.I kept calling to check the status of the vehicle and was repeatedly being told that they were still waiting on the parts .After being told that the parts were there and the vehicle was put back together but the timing was now off , this would bring the total to $1300 and additional parts were ordered for the timing.I received a call on 12/5/23 stating the vehicle was all set and ready to be picked up.Not even having the car for one week on on 12/11/23 my vehicle shut off while driving.I called Vargus and informed them and had the vehicle towed there to correct the issue. They had the vehicle for a few days due to being busy.I was told they didn’t know what was wrong with it, couldn’t get a reading on anything and they just flushed the throttle body I believe..I picked the vehicle up and again on 12/15/23 the vehicle shut off again .Had the vehicle towed to Vargus again for them to tell me they didn’t know what was wrong .I picked the vehicle up on 12/15/23 at around 4:15pm.Approximately 4:45pm Carlos called me informing me that the only thing he could think of would be the aftermarket crank sensor I had installed.I then told him that he told me they were replacing that, kept my car for 2 weeks waiting for the sensors to come in & quoted me $632 for replacing them all to then tell me they never replaced it because they didn’t need to at the time.Very dishonest and overcharged for a service not completed

    Business Response

    Date: 01/18/2024

BBB spoke to Arcadio at business and the following was relayed: Car was here for the time customer states. We were waiting on parts from the dealer, which was out of our control. The customer is also correct, the vehicle was brought in as a no-start and crank and cam sensors need to be replaced as pair. We compared her sensors to the OEM sensors we ordered and hers were reading correctly. When that wasn't the issue, we identified that the timing had jumped. We ordered new timing chain, tensioners, and guides and installed. That is what the customer was charged for, the $1,300 was for the diagnosis and installation of the timing chain. We did not charge the customer for the sensors. The car ran fine when the customer left. She called back stating the vehicle had stalled. We checked it out, there were no codes so we thought maybe it was throttle body was carboned up. We cleaned at no charge. At another point the vehicle stalled again and we checked it again. Again, there were no codes. It is possible it is the auto zone crank sensor and that it needs to be replaced because of it being an aftermarket part. The customer came in here with a no-start vehicle and left with the vehicle running. In order to further diagnose it would cost additional money. If the customer is willing to pay for us to further diagnose, we would be more than willing to look into further.
