I joined Notable Networkers on June 15, 2023. I paid the annual membership fee and 1 quarter of the room dues, up front. After the first quarter I paid the remaing year with the notion that I had one active client out of the 4 referrals given to me by Notable Networkers in that time. The active client was the company of which the Treasurer of Notable Networkers was involved. After I remitted the rest of my annual room dues, I completed one month's of services for the Treasurer's company and then was not paid for the work. I truly believe the Treasurer of Notable Networkers, who is in the Administration team, took advantage of his position and the President is avoiding the resolution of the issue. I had given one month of work and have yet to be paid in full by the company of the Treasurer of Notable Networkers. When I brought this to the attention of the President of Notable Networkers and resigned due to the integrity of their members, as there were other issues as well, I was told that there are no refunds and to resolve my issues with the membership committee. Unfortunately, the membership committee is not above the Administration of Notable Networkers. I truly believe that the referrals given to me were not authentic and the Treasurer abused his position to influence me to provide services to his company under the false pretense that I would be paid for my services. In November of 2023 the Vice President of the group asked that I consult with her partner on selling his business. After a brief discussion with the business owner, it was clear that he was not interested in paying for services. I am seeking a refund of the remaining time of 6.5 months that is left of my annual membership. My resignation is due to the Adminstration member violations of authentic referrals where companies pay for services performed.Customer Answer

It is regrettable that **** feels that Notable Networkers (NN) was in some way responsible for the issues she had with the mentioned member regarding services rendered in her complaint. **** is not a customer, she was a member. NN is not a business, it is a network organization of members in a non compete setting. It is not a buyers club nor does it promise business by joining the group. The work you get out of the organization is directly related to the effort put in and how you handle your relationship with those you are referred to and the members within. **** owed the group $199 for member dues at the time of acceptance to the group. The $277 she paid consisted of the $199 member dues and the $78 quarterly room dues (covers room, insurance, food and materials). The balance of the $170 was offered in good faith so she could take advantage of the annual room dues discount when her next quarterly dues were due. See attached file for breakdown of costs on the application **** submitted. As in any membership situation, there are no refunds if the member decides to leave the group or stop their membership as is also stated on the application she filled out (attached).
From June - the end of November **** participated in the group, in turn using that portion of the room dues. She chose to then leave a letter with the Secretary to give to the President of the group the last time she came to the meeting. The president was on vacation and was not back in town for 10 days, at which point she reached out to the leadership team to discuss. The letter stated she expected a refund because she did not like how some referrals went within the group or she would file a complaint with the BBB. The complaints listed were; one referral given to **** from the Treasurer for his wife’s business, another with a member that owed her services she paid for, and then oddly enough a complaint about someone referred to her that did not want to do business. It was suggested she go to the membership committee for this...her assumption that the membership committee has no authority over matters like this are wrong. They have the power to accept, discipline and remove sitting members for unresolvable issues. Their very role is to work with members to come to solutions to avoid issues like this. **** visited, and substituted, many times before committing to joining the group and was well aware that just because you join does not mean you were guaranteed business.
The leadership team decided to refund her a proactive amount of $125.50 for room dues not yet realized on 12/14/23. The president was in the process of executing the letter response when we received the BBB letter at the meeting 12/21/23 (We were given it at the location we meet at on the day of our meeting since we have no direct mailing address). These are all volunteer roles and she got busy and had not sent the check or letter (check #1917) this last week. Once we reviewed the BBB letter at the meeting on 12/21/23 the president stated she would get that out right away.
In reference to the Treasurer’s referral. ****’s services are a high ticket item with quotes as high as $300 an hour and continuing with her services were impossible at that rate. With that, the business between **** and her clients are not that of NN and NN cannot speak to those business interactions. It was expressed that serious efforts were being made to pay off what is owed.
No mention in the complaint about the member that owed services paid for...I assume that was resolved.
The VP referral is a non complaint, non issue and laughable to anyone that is even remotely familiar with what networking and referrals are. Referral given, meeting set, meeting happens, prospect did not want to do business with ****..Business Response
