Chris, the owner of Tech Monkeys, came to my house Thursday evening Nov. 21,2024 to setup a new ***** color printer especially made for artists posters. He supposedly tried to set it up but was unable to do so and told me the ink was not coming out at all. He said he had an ***** representative he would contact and took the printer with him. This all appears on a **** camera. He told me if I was patient and willing to pay up to $400 he could get it fixed. Keep in mind, this printer was NEVER used. About a month later I emailed Chris but got no response. I emailed again and then called. Chris returned my call and informed me my printer had been "recycled". He then told me to read the fine print on the receipt. Problem is I did not even get the receipt until the next day. He was at my house Thursday night, reaking of alcohol, and emailed the receipt the next day. This owner is desperate and struggling and stole my perfectly good, brand new printer. He owes me $1,200. Note also, I paid him $125 by credit card for the service call on Thursday night. That is why the receipt, with the fine print, was sent the next day.Business Response

This is a response to a complaint by ***** *****. On November 22, 2024, I Chris P***** Owner of Tech Monkeys approximately 3pm left my office and went to ***** *****'s Residence * *** ******** ** ************* ** ***** for a Printer Repair. When i got there i was greeted at the door and brought to the room where the printer was. Miss ***** explained to me that it wasn't working, and her daughter tried to get it to work over the past year. I asked Miss ***** if it was still under warranty. She stated, "unfortunately she waited too long, and the warranty had expired". I then asked if she contacted support (Manufacturer) to see if they could help her with the fix. She stated no. So, i then proceeded to evaluate the printer. After working on the printer for approximately 1 hour. I came to the conclusion the printer was malfunctioning and needed to be replaced. Miss ***** at this time asked if i could take it with me so i could work on it more. I stated there was nothing i could do that it was broken. Miss ***** insisted that i take it. At this time i felt bad because it was a printer for her daughter, which i believed to have been diagnosed with special needs. So, i took it to my shop. I called a tech that knows theses printers really well and we went thru the printer with the same outcome as i previous stated that it can't be fixed and needed to be replaced. I then called Mis ***** residence to let her know the outcome of the printer *************). I had to leave a message. After a few days went buy i called again no answer. Had to leave a message again. It was a total of 3 times i had called and left messages. Due to the fact that Tech Monkeys Office is small, and we don't have a lot of room to store Equipment we have made it clear on our Invoice under terms and conditions, that after 14 days left in are office or in our possession that the equipment will be recycled. Miss ***** was given this invoice to read and go over before she signed it. She did sign it. Miss ***** called approximately 2 months later asking for her printer. Unfortunately, we let her know the printer was recycled and that we called her multiple times and left messages asking on what she wanted us to do with the printer. Pick it up or recycle. She got very upset, (I understand) and started yelling. I tried to speak to her reasonably, but she would not let me get a word in. She continued to threaten me and said she was a lawyer and was going to ***** my business down and that i messed with the wrong person. Now as a business owner i am not happy with this outcome. Unfortunately, her printer was broken. She waited too long to get a replacement under the manufacture warranty. I tried the best i could help her and fix the printer, but it couldn't be fixed. Again, she waited too long to call us to advice Tech monkeys on what to do with her printer. It had already been recycled. Poor Outcome but nothing i could have done differently.Initial Complaint

In February 2024 my husband and I brought our computers to Tech Monkeys for repair. Both laptops had to be charged several times a day. A few days later Chris called to say that the computers were ready to be picked up. Unfortunately there was no change. We spoke with Chris who said he installed a program which was supposed to have cleaned up our computers. It didn't solve the problem. He then thought it might be the batteries which he replaced. Still no improvement. Obviously it was not the batteries. Chris then said he would run an ***** diagnostic program. He called the next day to say that there was nothing wrong with the battery. What ??? He just installed a new battery. Of course there is nothing wrong with the battery. Our question to him was why didn't he do the diagnostic BEFORE he replaced the batteries. He couldn't give us an answer. After spending $574.94 our computers are no better. Chris actually said "I'm not sure what you want me to do?" Tech Monkeys claim to have a satisfaction guarantee. Not even close.Business Response

TechMonkeys Installed 1 battery in each ******* for a total of 2. Install ***** ** *** on one laptop per request by the client. The Client still stated they must charge their laptops three times a day. If they are using their laptops all day with out being plugged in, this is normal depending on the type of work they are performing. We showed the client the diagnostic form from ***** showing their batteries is working 100% and charging 100% and that they are working normal. We feel the Client doesn’t understand what work was done and how to properly maintain the ****. We tried to explain to them and all they did was got upset and started yelling over the phone. Please look at the enclosed paperwork showing what we paid and are labor cost. Also, the diagnostic from there laptop. Thank you in this matter. Chris Payant (Owner)Customer Answer

I would like to explain why I do not accept Tech Monkeys explanation of the facts. First of all we were charged for two ***** ** *** programs not one as Mr. Payant stated. Secondly, when he talks about performing a diagnostic test on the battery it should be noted that the test was performed on the new battery he installed two days before. Of course the battery was working! Our question to Mr.Payant was why didn't he do a diagnostic test on the original battery before he charged us hundreds of dollars to replace them. He refused to answer that question. It seems that we didn't even need the new batteries. I admit that both my husband and I are elderly and don't know a lot about computers. But the idea that we should have to plug in our laptops whenever we use them seems absurd. The type of "work" we do on our computers is email to friends and family, reading articles, and shopping on ******. Mr. Payant was very condescending when speaking with us on the phone. He followed up with an email that said our computers were working as they should be. Before having this problem I would charge my computer maybe once a day or less. All of a sudden it needs to be charge three times a day. We paid Tech Monkeys almost $600 and they did not fix our computers. The worst part is that they claim to have fixed them but we just don't know how to use them. Hopefully you will prevent Tech Monkeys from using these unethical practices.Business Response

To the complaint. ***** ***** as i stated before. When you brought your laptops into are shop complaining about slow performance and the battery not holding a charge. We performed a battery diagnosis. It showed you both needed battery's The laptops were the original batteries. So, i bought and paid for the battery's and installed them. Also, we preformed 2 cleanups and bought the software ***** ** *** which is still on both of your machines. This is what we use to do clean ups on ****. The ********* charge to 100% Their batteries are working at 100%. Tech monkeys also offered to send out both ********* to an ***** authorized service center to look at the motherboards, and you refused. I tried to help you and be professional in every way. In my opinion your laptops are working correctly. Chris Payant. Tech MonkeysCustomer Answer

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. We asked Mr. Payant multiple times why he didn't do a diagnostic test on the original batteries. Never once did he say he had done the test but he thought changing the batteries was a good place to start. He provided the ******** ********* ****** with a copy of the diagnostic test on the new batteries but not on the old ones because it was never done. Clearly Mr. Payant is not being honest. We refused to have anymore work done by Tech Monkeys because we had already spent $574 and the computers are still not fixed.
