I scheduled a prepayment towards my account ahead of the due date. On the due date, I then received a notification letting me know that my payment was late, so I went to my account that showed no payment had been made which led me to think that the scheduled payment had not gone through. I scheduled a second payment and *** stole 2 payments from my bank. I called ORU to let them know that I had paid twice and the woman let me know that the only way to get my money back was to speak with my bank. What she did not let know is that I'd be paying a $7 returned check fee and it would take over a month to get my money back. That's close to $300 for no reason. Now I'm being told that I'm going to be paying a late fee if I want to wait to see that money enter my account first as my PDF bill shows a negative balance, but my online system shows a positive balance of close to $200.This company is built on thievery and I will dance on its grave the day it goes under.

Thank you for reaching out with your concerns. We have thoroughly reviewed your account and the events you described in your posted concern.

Your billing statement for the period of March 13 through April 11, 2025, totaling $270.23, was due on May 5, 2025. Using the self-service payment feature of your registered utility web account, you scheduled a payment to be remitted on the same date as your billing due date.Once processed, a confirmation email was sent notifying you of the payment. A few hours later, an additional self-service payment of $270.23 was also initiated, and another confirmation email was sent advising it had been submitted for processing. Orange and Rockland Utilities, **** had processed both customer-initiated payments and did not initiate either payment on our end.

In your review, you mentioned receiving a notification stating that your payment was late. However, our records do not indicate that such an email was sent. If you have a copy of the notification, we kindly request you share it with us for further review.

Once a payment has been initiated, the utility does not have the ability to cancel it. As such, our **************** Representative advised you to contact your financial institution to request a cancellation. The cancelled payment received on May 5, 2025, was subsequently returned to your financial institution on June 2, 2025, a banking process that is outside of our control. During this processing period, your May 12, 2025, billing statement was generated, reflecting charges totaling $164.08. Keep in mind at this point in time your utility account showed a credit balance of $106.15 which accounted for the duplicate payment ($270.23) less your May bill ($164.08) as the duplicate payment had not yet returned.

Please note that you were not charged a late payment fee. However, a return check fee of $7.00 was initially applied which was waived by our **************** Representative during your conversation on June 3, 2025.

We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns and are here to assist you further should you have any additional questions.

One Star is way way way way way too much. Overpriced utility. Constant power outages. Always blames the weather, even when the weather is calm. Doesnt invest in properly maintaining the infrastructure (like pruning and cutting problematic trees) or upgrading the infrastructure. Winds, rain, snow, hurricanes are nothing new in this area, but for some reason (for example) wooden poles are still replaced by wooden poles, instead of cement ones. Basically the response is well blame Mother Nature. Its 2024. Response time is incredibly slow. NY State politicians ( and every state politicians) should enact legislation that will make this maggots be held accountable for not bringing the electrical grid up to date.

As an individual investor in orange and rockland utilities **** company trust department has been furnish with proper information to send intrest payments and all proceeds to the rightful/lawful owner each month, or send to the Treasury as instructeded too, and not one person in the company comphrend any of the language one speaks on this regards, so they dismissed all one said , so ill make it my due diligence to put this out on all public platform, im sure the ones who understands may respond. O&R was sent numerous of instructions with proper endorsement according to 31CFR for setting the accounting on the public side. Heard nothing to that regards. There is so much more to say, but ill leave it at that. Do better and give the "investor " in your company their fair share intrest, as I revoked all rights and intrest given to this company.
