    I am filing the complaint on behalf of my son, ************************* for the healthcare received in **** Patels office on 12/19/2022. I specifically asked for annual physical checkup when I scheduled the appointment and on the date of service because my insurance only covers annual physical. Nobody from the office ever informed me that a comprehensive checkup is required before an annual physical checkup. I received a surprised bill of $140 for the service that I did not ask for my son, comprehensive checkup. I called the office to request to change it to annual physical checkup and resubmit the claim to my insurance in 4/27/2023. The office rep refused and finally I was given the explanation about the compressive checkup requirement policy for the first time ever. I would agree to pay the bill if I was informed about the comprehensive checkup requirement in advance. This is unfair billing practices since I requested for annual physical but the healthcare provider provided comprehensive checkup without notifying me. I could have seen other pediatricians who do not require comprehensive checkup before an annual physical checkup which would cost me $0.

    As previously discussed with this patient's mother when making the appointment, an annual physical cannot be done on a non established patient. This was this patient's first visit at this practice. Unfortunately, the visit provided cannot be changed to an annual physical because that was not the services provided and would be fraudulent to submit to the patient's insurance company. A patient cannot request something be billed to their insurance company to keep them from having to pay their deductible for services provided as that is considered fraud.
