I ordered a "Street Performance" ***** engine on 11/8/23. Paid $2,400 (1/3) deposit. Owner John P***** said there were two people in front of me. Roughly midway, the next payment would be billed. On 2/26/24, I contacted (email) John P***** to see where things stood. A couple weeks (3/15/24) later I emailed again. Two days later I called him (he actually answered the phone). He told me he would check his build schedule and let me know. At this point the "two" in front of me had somehow morphed into "several." Four weeks later, having heard nothing, I sent an email followup. Starting a week later, still having heard nothing, I started calling weekly. Two weeks ago, I sent an email saying:

"It's now been eight weeks since we last spoke and four weeks since sending you the email below. In the last four weeks I have tried four times to reach you by phone. I left messages on your business phone. Couldn't on your cell (mail box was full). In any event, I only hope you can imagine how frustrated I am that you can't take a few minutes to respond to your commitment to check on the status of my build and to respond to my subsequent queries. In any event, I now want to cancel my order and get the monies I've paid refunded. This should not be a problem for you since obviously you're so backed up -- and so busy that you can't take the time to respond to me -- that you should be able to easily sell my engine to someone else."

No response. One week ago, I sent a followup email reiterating I wanted to cancel and wanted my money returned. I have not heard back.

I'm beginning to think he's got a Ponzi scheme going where he is using people's deposits and progress payments to fund other engines already in the pipeline.

I wish to register a complaint against a company called Vintage Performance Developments. Owner is John Parker. His contact no is ************.
This complaint is for non delivery of an advertised ********** ****** *********** *** for my vintage 1962 ******* ***** Sports Car. This Kit included bracketry and some other small components to enable installation on the car. I ordered this Kit on 18th Janurary 2024.
I paid $1420 USD via ******. This included shipping ***. I still do not have any invoice or notification of shipment.
John Parker, (the owner of VPD), assured me that the carbs were available for shipment. Since then he has delayed shipment with just about every excuse under the sun. As time has passed there has been one excuse after another.
The above delay gave me cause to check out John Parker on the internet.
    Mostly car forums eg ** ********** *****. E.g. a 3 page thread here
**********************************************************************************  It is apparent that he has a long track record of delay and lack of information. Unanswered phone calls etc. I have all of the emails sent during this transaction, if required, plus the receipt on my credit card/***** that is attached. I have attached some of the emails to him. Can you put a rocket under this guy to get him to action my order?

    Business Response

BBB spoke to the business owner and the following was relayed: We shipped the product once we received his address.

    Business Response

    Date: 04/29/2024

The complainant has not requested a refund, only that shipping be expedited. After waiting for some custom parts to come in and were ready to ship, I discovered that we did not have his complete address. When the address was received the carb kit was shipped that week.  See copies of emails below which includes the tracking number for **** international shipping. Best regards, John  Vintage Performance Developments

I submitted a classic car to Vintage Performance Developments to be repaired over 6 years ago. The business has received over $7500 and has not repaired the car, sent updates, and frequently ignores calls. I would like the car and money returned.
