I had a most wonderful experience with Dependable Paving Co., Inc. There were two crews and a mason that came, and all were professional, hard working and very quick. The first team was Darin and Randy they laid out and dug the driveway and sidewalk and placed the retaining wall with Billy. I can not say enough good things about this team. Darin answered all my questions and was very kind and patient-and a Veteran-thank you for your service! Randy kept everything moving with taking out dirt and bringing in stone. Billy was also very nice and answered my questions regarding the wall. The crew that laid down the asphalt were hard workers and also very professional and polite. I am so happy with the professional high quality service provided to me. The driveway and sidewalk are beautiful. I can also say that having just moved to Syracuse from the Cooperstown area, Dependable Paving Co., Inc. pricing was very reasonable by comparison to what costs were for paving in the Cooperstown area. I will finish this review with special thanks to Gary, the owner, who came out to my house several times to look at my complicated driveway situation, solved every problem and took the time to source grey stone for the continuation of existing stone wall so it looks like it was always there. He put above and beyond effort and the results are perfect. I would highly recommend Dependable Paving Co, Inc.

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! They sealed our driveway one 3 years ago while the company was ran by the original owner. Now his son Ryan runs the business and the guy is extremely rude, sarcastic and belittling. He is a horrible bully and treated us like idiots! They recoated our driveway June 23’ and it looks ABSOLUTELY AWFUL! There are cracks still showing all over the driveway and the material they put down is showing tire marks all over the driveway! It is an absolute eye sour! When I called Ryan with a complain, he was very disrespectful and again spoke to me like I was a 5 year old. Asked me to send him pictures which I did. He said: Great, thank you, and never followed back. I messaged him again a week later asking him for a follow up, no response. Within 2 hours he shows up at my door during lunch time. I told him that I had food on the stove and was cooking my son’s lunch. He said: Well you wanted me to follow up on this. I said: yeah you should have let me know you were coming so I could tell you whether or not I am going to be available instead of just showing up at my door. It is going to take me 15 minutes to finish up the food. To which he responded: I don’t have time to wait. So I turned everything off and came outside just so he could tell me that everything looks GORGEOUS and it’s how it supposed to look!!!! The driveway seal is unacceptable and we will be taking him to small claims for refund as we are going to have to have another company come in and fix this mess! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! HORRIBLE JOB! HORRIBLE PEOPLE - SPECIFICALLY RYAN! HE WILL RUN THIS COMPANY DOWN TO THE GROUND! AWFUL EXPERIENCE!

      Hi *****,
I want to address your recent feedback and clarify some misconceptions and what seems to be completely unfounded slanderous language against me and my family’s company – as I am not the owner despite what you have claimed. I must also express my disappointment with the manner in which you chose to communicate your concerns.
From the beginning of our interactions this year, you insisted on making me the villain from the get-go. For context to anyone reading this, we had originally sealcoated and crackfilled *****’s driveway in 2020 back when we were able to use coal-tar emulsion sealer. Since then, NYS has outlawed coal-tar emulsion sealer and all of us asphalt contractors are now forced to use asphalt-emulsion sealer, which is more expensive. While I understand that the price difference for the sealcoating may have caught ***** off guard from the last time that we sealed her driveway, I made it a point to stress to her that the increase was a direct result of external factors and nothing within our control as a private company. I could tell upon meeting with ***** on May 13th of this year, however, that this explanation wasn’t good enough for her, as she was awkwardly condescending to me and insisted that I was trying to take advantage of her by price gouging. In hindsight, that should have been a warning sign about things to come, but I didn’t think much of it as we had worked pleasantly together 3 years prior - and she not only loved me (I was the one who quoted her job, not Gary), but she loved our work as well.
***** - regarding the quality of this year’s job, which is the same exact procedure we performed for your driveway 3 years ago with the only difference being the type of sealer, I was sorry to hear that you were initially dissatisfied. However, I was not surprised. When you were using profane language with me on the phone and telling me how you “felt sick to your stomach for paying so much for such a ****** job” I immediately recognized that you were still upset about the price and were angling for a refund. Upon personally inspecting your driveway on Tuesday, June 27, two business days after you had reached out to me the night of Thursday, June 22, I can confidently state that our team has done an outstanding job on your driveway. The tire track appearance you mentioned in your complaint is actually a characteristic of the flexible crack filler we use, which ensures durability and adaptability to ground shifts. To further illustrate this, I even took the time to show you similar tire tracks on the roadway right outside of your house that had been crackfilled with the same DOT-approved material that we use. This material, after all, is designed to stay flexible throughout all weather conditions. And given the fact that it is a rubberized material, it is perfectly normal for it to leave the imprint of your car’s tire on a 85 degree summer day.
I must emphasize that despite my efforts to address your concerns, your behavior and choice of words during our conversations were unacceptable. As a professional and reputable company, we maintain a commitment to treating our customers with respect and courtesy, and we expect the same in return – though we don’t always get it. Unfortunately, this was one of those times where respect was not reciprocated and I felt extremely uncomfortable as you were standing on your driveway hurling personal insults at me and my family’s company. The profane and irate
language you used made me no longer feel safe to be on your property.
While I appreciate reasonable feedback on our jobs, I realized that your “feedback” had nothing to do with the actual sealing job that we installed on your driveway but was rather used as a venting mechanism for the price that you were viscerally angry about since day one. I would like to remind you that resorting to foul language and disrespectful behavior not only undermines the possibility of resolving any issues but also reflects poorly on your own character. It is essential for us to maintain a constructive and professional dialogue to reach a satisfactory resolution, but I’m afraid you have now burned that bridge.
In closing, I came in person and at your request to extend an olive branch and to come to a meaningful resolution about your complaints. I had my crew on hold ready to make any corrections as you saw fit. Sadly, there was never going to be a solution as you rejected my offer to come to an agreement and instead chose to berate me and my crew. Please retract your false and defamatory statements as your claims are intentionally misleading the public.
      Sincerely,
      Ryan P******

Dependable Paving did a great job. They repaired crumbling filled in cracks then sealed my driveway. The owner, Gary, worked on site along with others.
      I certainly recommend them.

In July of '21 we signed a contract for both a phase 1 binder in '21 & phase 2 topcoat in '22. We were assured phase 1 could be done that season and told to expect completion around late Sept. By Halloween they still were a no-show. At this time I placed yet another call to Brenda who answers the phone asking if they were going to follow through as the season was approaching its end. Brenda is not at all helpful! Lucky me a 60° heat wave hit Nov. 5 and they showed to do phase one. I observed for 2.5 days the $16k+ work on my large driveway from excavation to application of the binder. I was very pleased with the quality and workmanship of what I saw inspite of the anxiety of their late arrival. Workers were friendly and productive. This company was $5k more than 3 other estimates I received but the only one to give me what I wanted and to me quality trumps cost always. I was told phase 2 was required within 1 year. I called June '22 to make certain I was on their list. Brenda fumbles around asking about a contract then insuates the price could be more "due to global events". When I told her I have a contracted price that is not based on current mkt value or global events she was not pleased. She said Ryan would call me. July '22 another call to ask and Brenda fumbles again. Told again Ryan would call me. No call from Ryan again. Well, the year passed 11-7-22. No topcoat! CONTRACT NOT HONORED! The contempt for this company and Ryan is palatable. A father hands his son the business and this is what it becomes? My brother was an acquaintance of the father and referred them to me. How unfortunate to do such very good work on phase 1 and blow it on phase 2 (SMH). Since when is the customer responsible for global events when a contract has already been signed? A contract that does not say phase 2 next year @mkt value!! What a stain on the company for me! Shame on you Ryan!!!
