06/30/2021: Mr. R.C. of Advanced Water came to my home and gave me a quote of $3225 to install a Water Smart Impression Water Filtration System, Model ****-****. I paid him a deposit of $1600.

07/21/2022: Mr. R.C. installed the water system. I paid him the remaining amount due.

07/29/2022: A plumber from another business who came to my house to address an unrelated issue discovered wet insulation in the basement crawl space. After a period of investigation, the plumber and I together determined that the wet insulation was not due to any sort of leak, but due to some the drainage of the water filtration system that Mr. R.C. had installed. During the initial phase of the water filter regeneration cycle, air and water are violently expelled from the drain tube. Due to the drainage setup, this force of air caused water to shoot up out of the drain pipe, wetting the crawl-space insulation. After the air phase, a large volume of water is expelled. The drain pipe is too small to handle the volume of water, and during the remainder of the regeneration phase, a small amount of water (less than a gallon) leaks up out of the drain pipe. Because the crawl space has no ventilation, water and moisture are particularly problematic and need to be minimized as much as possible. I contacted Mr. R.C. and described the situation. We scheduled for Aug 2nd for him to do a service visit, for which he indicated that he would charge me. On August 1st I had a plumber (while he was there working on an unrelated task) install a larger diameter drain pipe to solve the problem. It was convenient, saved me the cost of another travel fee, and saved Mr. R.C. a 50-mile trip for the service call. Through phone calls and text messages, Mr. R.C. states that it is not his fault that the drain could not handle the water volume. I contend that providing an adequate drainage situation was included in the installation of the water filtration equipment.
