    Buyer beware! BuildMac was a partnership between Mike (father) and Andy (son). Our interior designer referred us to BuildMac for a kitchen renovation. We met with Andy, who gave us an estimate and stated he would personally be the foreman on the job. We signed a contract and submitted a security deposit for the kitchen reno. Shortly after, Andy left BuildMac after a reported dispute between him and his father. Mike initially said he would refund our deposit as we had never met him and had been dealing exclusively with Andy. Mike then stopped returning our calls, texts, and emails. He failed to respond to a letter from a lawyer. We heard from other people working with BuildMac that the quality of their work was deteriorating, and they failed to meet deadlines. Their website is now down. They never performed a minute of work on our house; Mike has never even seen or been in the house. We now have to seek legal action to retrieve our security deposit, which was thousands of dollars. This has been a nightmare; I feel like I've been scammed.

    Excellent work. Excellent contractor service. Project entailed structural correction and upgrade of interior work left deficient by a different contractor 20 years ago (specifically, load-bearing wall had been removed in a private residence; ceiling then left with insufficient header support that degraded over time—leading to “sagging” of ceiling wallboard and compromise of ceiling integrity). Work completed in a timely, agreed-upon manner—from project preparation and demo, through structural support correction and upgrade, to finish painting of living and family rooms. Contractor Macaluso was thorough and consistent in his interface with us as clients; maintained regular follow-up and inspection of work, and explained process as we, as clients, had questions or required clarification. Would recommend this contractor and personally enlist his company for future projects.
