On July 29th, 2022, I brought my vehicle to ***** auto group for a *** inspection. I was also experiencing instability steering, when driving over potholes. We were informed that the vehicle needed front and rear shocks, front and rear stabilizer links, rear brake pads and a wheel alignment. We were charged $1,597 and told that it was a very good car and should last a long time. On August 29, 2022, the car would not start. *** of ***** auto group came to assess the vehicle, stated it needed a starter and it was towed to his auto shop. When the work was completed and we arrived to retrieve it, my daughter was told he replaced the water pipe. He mentioned that it would have caused us a bigger problem if not replaced. It was done without authorization. We were charged $825 for the work. On September 13, 2022, while my daughter was driving on the highway, the vehicle began making loud noises, 3 caution warnings appeared on the dashboard, and it began to emit an odor as well as smoke. My daughter attempted to drive to the next exit but the car stopped on the highway. We towed the car to Westchester auto tech, which cost $175. The technician there stated the car overheated because the coolant was leaking. The car would need a new engine, at a cost of $2800. After all the expense and safety concerns, we made the decision not to repair it. I did inform *** of what occurred, and he stated he felt bad but it wouldnt benefit him to purchase it. On October 6, 2022, while working on the vehicle, ****, of Westchester auto tech, (who purchased it) discovered that the coolant was leaking, because the part the newly installed water pipe was connected to, was cracked. He gave us the part, which appeared to be glued. Either ***** auto cracked the part and attempted to fix it instead of replacing it or they didnt realize it was damaged, which was obvious. Either way, they are responsible for the outcome. Our vehicle had a ****** blue book value of $6000 and ********** for $800.
