I thought Wilbert’s U-Pull-It was a reputable business and they had the part (hood for ******* ********) I was looking for available at their Williamson, NY location. On January 31, 2025, I drove from Buffalo to the Williamson store, northeast of Rochester. The hood was from different year ******* ******** but still compatible with my year ********.

I purchased it and proceeded to install it there in their parking lot. It did not fit my vehicle, there was a slight difference in trim but different none the less. I returned it right then, still before 5pm, same day. The store would only issue a credit slip for the return, $65.84.
That was an inconvenience but acceptable. Then I learned that I could only use the credit at that location and that it would expire in 90 days. I found out about this policy after the fact - a deceptive business practice essentially keeping customers' money in exchange for nothing in return if not used within 90 days.

Wilbert’s U-Pull-It has a Buffalo location and this credit would be easily usable if Wilbert's did not impose a location restriction. To place a further limit with an expiration date of 90 days is unethical and dishonest.

BBB spoke to the business and was informed that this is company policy.  They suggested you contact the Buffalo store to see if they would be willing to honor the credit.

I purchased my car 2/13/2020 the miles on the car was 79030 in October 2020 the motor seized. I had the car towed to ******** where I purchased it from. A engine4life claim was filed and I was asked to provided oil change documents which I did and the claim was approved the used motor was purchased from Wilbert and ******** put it in. The receipt ******** gave me said mileage in was 85773 and the mileage on it when I picked it up 85780. While three years later the motor has seized the miles is 112,432. The motor is still under warranty but Wilbert is refusing to replace the motor saying that I did not get oil change I gave them my ***** ***** receipts from 9/2021 - May/2023. I looked at my 9/21 oil change and the miles was at 94884. I never go over 6000 miles which all my receipt shows that. They saying I should have got an oil change at 93280 in 2021 and that's why 2 years later the motor has seized. So now they are trying to use that against me saying that I did not get an oil change in 9,100 miles so the warranty is void. There's a recall on the motor from 2014 due to a factory problem.

BBB spoke to owner of Wilbert's and the following message was relayed to the consumer: This consumer is not a customer of ours.  We have no record of her being a customer whatsoever.  After investigating this complaint, it appears as though we sold an engine to ****** * ****, a broker.  It appears as though ****** * **** then sold the engine to ********s.   Now, we offer a 6 month warranty on our parts.  However, that 6 month warranty would only extend to our customer, which was ****** * ****- not this consumer.  And regardless, it is now well past that 6 month mark anyways. Unfortunately, I don't know what ****** * **** and/or ********s sold/promised this customer but Wilbert's is not responsible for that.  This consumer will need to take her complaint up with whomever gave her a promise or guarantee- either ****** * **** or ********s.  Wilbert's did not sell this customer any product, she is not a customer of ours.  And Wilbert's did not promise or guarantee anything to this customer.   As evidenced in the 2 attachments that this customer submitted, she has paperwork for ********s and ****** * **** because that is who she did business with.  She does not have any paperwork from Wilbert's because we did not do business with her.  Therefore, unfortunately, we are unable to help in this matter.  Please advise the customer to approach either ********s or ****** * **** with her complaint- whomever made her a promise/guarantee because they should be held accountable if a promise or guarantee was made to her by either one of them.  Thank you.
