    I brought a dress to Joanna on June 6th. The alterations to be done were for my 10 year old daughter. Joanna did the measurements and told us to return on June 20th. Upon return, Joanna gave us the dress to try on and while in the fitting room we noticed the dress still had pins in it. When I showed Joanna she laughed and said "I guess I forgot to do it." She promised it would be ready by June 23rd. We returned on the 23rd and tried on the dress. While the hem was perfect, the straps were completely butchered. The one was still falling off her shoulder and they were not the same size. Joanna said (in front of my daugher) "did she gain weight?" I was speechless. Joanna said she could not fix the straps because there wasn't enough fabric. She gave me safety pins! My daughter was getting upset so I hurried to leave. After paying Joanna said to my daughter "only eat soup for the next 2 weeks or you won't fit into this dress!" My daughter, crying, and I immediately left. We took the dress to 2 different alteration shops, both claiming that the work Joanna did was awful, and almost impossible to fix without having to rebuild the entire top of the dress. With the wedding in less than 1 week I was forced to purchase another dress from ****** so my daughter would have something to wear. I am requesting a refund of the $75 I paid Joanna ALONG with the $100 for the dress (which Joanna damaged) for a total payment of $175. This does NOT include the irrevocable damage done to my daughter's self-esteem.

    BBB spoke to the business and the following was relayed: The issue was with the shape of the body and she does very good work and has to deal with weight gain and loss and she is honest about this with people. She did not say the statement about eating soup.

    I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. 
    My 10 year old does not need to be told to lose weight. The soup comment was absolutely made, my daughter was there to hear it. The dress alterations were AWFUL. The straps were different sizes and different lengths. I took the dress to 2 other tailors who both agreed the work was poorly done and would take a while to fix. I am asking to be refunded as the dress is now scraps thanks to this business.

    BBB spoke to Joanna, owner, and the following was relayed: The customer's daughter did not fit into the dress, I asked her if she put on some weight. The mother said that she would put her on a diet. The customer paid $10, if she wants to come back in I will refund her the $10 she paid me.

    I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint. 
    This information is absolutely incorrect. She never asked me if my daughter put on weight nor did I say I would put her on a diet. She asked my daughter if she had gained weight to which we stated NO. Regardless the fact of the matter is that she ruined the dress and it was not able to be fixed by anyone else. I paid $75. I would appreciate a refund in the form of a check mailed to me, as I do not wish to step foot into this store.
